first top speed run

owned the busa for about two years now and last knight i finally did it, before the safety police chime in let me explain the scene. 1:30 in the morning, line of sight to the horizon, no side roads and no place for a cop to hide and most importantly, no brake lights to catch up to. twised the throttle to the stop and banged through all six gears, hit the limiter and still had 2000 rpm to go in sixth, maybe i should get a tre.

So how fast did you go, or did you even look down at the speedo. When Im playing I sometimes forget to look down until I have let off.

thats awsome. i encourage all of you riders to take a trip to phoenix and abuse their speed limits. the highways are dead past 12 and it my equivelant to bonnaville. perfect pavement, straight, and they have cameras everywere so when it gets your pic they will send you it in the mail and tell you how fast you are going so its a good way to check your speeds.lol

I am very scared of deer at night. Ther is just no telling when you will see one, but at night you would hit it before you saw it. Yikes! ???

I won't play the Devils Advocate here but, there are certain places and times where it might not be legal or safe(top speed is NEVER SAFE!) but its low risk. I know we have a few top secret testing areas. The main thing that you need to consider is NOT GETTING CAUGHT! Realistically we do quite a bit of testing and unfortunately some of it happens on a very secluded stretch of public road with no side roads and controlled entry at both ends. EVERY single time that I make a pass SRAD checks chain tension tire pressure looks over safety wire looks at the tread surface, etc etc. I ALWAYS wear full gear when we test. The consequences at the speed can be and most likely will be fatal so all I can say is be safe be careful be smart oh and don't get caught!

We are going to start getting ready in a few weeks thoughts at this point Ceramic wheel bearings, Balanced wheels(balance the wheel BEFORE mounting the tire) possibly cams, thinking about a liquid intercooler, Remapping with Johnny Cheese, using the CORRECT fuel this time. I'm hoping to step into the 190's trust me I won't leave you guys in the dark! As soon as the Mods start I'll be right here posting everything for all to see! Oh and that brings up another thing, I may be doing some LIMITED Edition Poster size Photographs for sale on my website in the near future to help fund some of our racing, more on that soon.
Sorry about the threadjack!

So how far off is the speedo up on the top end with stock gearing?

Usually 7-9% but the speedo on most gen I's only goes to 185 while stock gearing can get you to around 200 and more with an extended rev limiter and some work done or power adders. Bone stock bikes have been run in the 192-194 range in the mile. The Gen II's are in the high 190's but I'm not aware of their gauges or how far off the speedo's are.

I have a 2000 busa with stock gearing and 220mph cluster. About a month ago I was going to work and decided to make a full throttle pull from 80mph. The road was empty as far as the eye can see so I rolled on the throttle and ran it up as for as I could take it. I say that cause it felt like my helmet was about to rip off my head. As soon as I let off I looked down at the speedo and I was doing a tad under 220. It blew my mind that I went that high cause the fastest I had been before was 160 (speedo reading).
