Fl. Law

don't get me wrong...i'm not a huge fan of stunting...in fact?...not at all....and you always do have a percentage of azzwipes that'll do the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time but...no call to stereotype, profile and punish the masses over such.

JMHO (from a busa bro that lives in south floriduh) & L8R, Bill.

I think you're absolutely right Bill. No need to punish the masses. But we should definitely take a moment to discuss how this lopsided bill got as far as it did. What was the reason? We're all going to end up suffering for the actions of the few....there will be laws passed.
As I said in my earlier post, Wag got it exactly right.
so wag got it exactly right eh?...well sir?...might i at this time point out wags own tagline?...which reads...

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis

wags a great guy and all around wonderful busa brother but at times?...esoecially during sensitive debates?...

contradiction abounds.

+1... don't dismiss this at all you Floridians, what was it about this bill that made it get so far in the first place? Might be time to get a little more politically active and find out who the officials are that were in support of this bill that was so pointedly and blatantly biased and pass the information on amongst your groups, friends and family and reply at the next voting opportunity.

As mentioned, with all the automobile accidents caused by the inattentive and silly behavior of drivers behind the wheel why was that so ignored and the total focus of angst placed upon motorcyclists.

I know somewhere at sometime the antisocial behaviour of a motorcyclist has caused the injury and deaths of a fellow motorist at some point but what are the raw numbers? I would wager that no matter what a **** a motorcyclist is on the road, if an accident occurs the possibility of the motorcyclist hurting or killing a automobile driver or occupant is slim to none and in all likelihood it's the motorcyclist that sustains the injury.

Anytime I hear public discussions regarding things like these I always hear a tone that implies that motorcycles have no business being on the roadways and should be banned or severely restricted and I'm sure we've all seen on occasion the scorn and ill-will many motorists have for motorcyclist and a few have acted provocatively toward us from time to time. There is a bias against us that we already are fully aware of, get active, get united and lets be sure that collectively we have a voice that can be heard, if not it's only a matter of time before one of these initiatives get passed.

it may be biased, discriminatory and flat out unfair but I can almost guarantee that the actions of these "stunters" is going to enable legislation you are going to find most unpleasant...

We either fix it ourselves or the law makers will.... as most of the people that do this are "kids" by any definition, I am not sure how you would propose a solution but if it takes a law to keep anyone under 21 or 25 off a bike, i am all for it to protect my right to ride my bike without fear of loss...

as most any of the "older" crowd here can attest, there are a lot of senseless laws we already accept as normal that 30 years ago would have never been even considered possible...

FL law was based on the fact that of the 119 MC related fatalities, 109 were speed related with many at 3 times the legal limit I think? that is a really bad statistic in any book.. not sure I really believe it but even if it is only 1/4 accurate that is too many speed related fatalities (and the fatalities are going to be the key to the law you will learn to hate)

Not sure what Wag's politics are but IMHO he got it right this time. Besides, I don't think C.S. Lewis had morons threatening his public safety like some of these assclowns do.
