flags in church

I recently heard of a church in my area that took the American flag off their stage. It was hanging on a strait up and down pole, next to a "Christian" flag [whatever that is]. The STORY I heard was some ONE found it inappropriate or offensive somehow and asked that it be removed. Say what? Does this make sense to ANYONE here? The church is IN America. Mostly filled with and paid for by Americans. WHO would need the flag to be removed and why? Can anyone here explain that to me? As far as I know, it had been there most of my life.

Call the paster/preacher/reverend/father/cleric/etc and ask them to explain. I'd be interested in hearing why as well. Or better yet, attend service and ask in public. Call em to the carpet on it.

Could it be because nationality is meaningless when it comes to religion?

Could be in protest of the State, antiwar, antigovment, you know. Christian Flag = white flag with blue square in upper left corner with red cross in blue square ...

My mom went to a meeting where this was mentioned. I'll ask her what they plan to do about it. I'm sick of some quiet minority changing things the MAJORITY. That church ought to do whatever the majority of people FUNDING IT want it to. If I went to a church that had flag on stage and they pulled it, I'd stop giving them my money to support that building and go elsewhere. I'm sorry, it's true our GOVERNMENT does not impress me at all, but I still believe in "America" and what it COULD be without all this PC crap.

I will find out more on this and post up

Why would there need to be a U.S. flag on the stage? I dont really see the need for it

probably doesn't need to be, but many churches recognize and respect their country, encourage people to participate in government, to vote and support the country. No real harm in it.

Why would you NOT want a flag on stage? This country was founded on religious freedom and escape from taxation [1 out of 2 is better than nothing] so it seems fine and non-offensive to me

It non-offensive to me also, but I dont really see why it would matter. God has people, not countries

If you are a member of that church, get a couple of these for you and some fellow clergy that feel the same, to wear to the service.
The fellows running the church may get the idea.

hahahahahhha! I'm not but my parents are. I'll forward this idea... they'd probably do it. And there shouldn't be a problem with others wearing their origin country flags, but the church physically sits in the middle of the USA, so a USA flag makes sense

Send those that are offended over to Iraq, maybe that will open their eyes.

You are kidding right? Shouldn't the church be spreading and teaching the word of God??? Also people don't fund a churce they tithe or give an offering. There is nothing implied in that giving them a say in what is done with the money.

dude, it's a CHURCH. funded by PEOPLE. AMERICAN people. I bet 99.9 percent of all the people that go there not only didn't mind the flag, but APPRICIATED it there. You think ONE guy in attendance should be able to have it removed?

besides, that silly bible thing also teaches respecting the governing authority

To be completely honest with you, I have an issue with the so called "Christian" flag. From what I understand, its used in alot of the denominational churches(methodist, etc.) I am all for showing respect to the U.S. flag, but the "Christian" flag and pledge is just "one more thing" that we have to do to secure our place in heaven. Funny cuz all these years I thought all you had to do was believe on Jesus to have everlasting life. Now it's "gotta do this, dress like this, pledge to this":banghead:

I want to hear more about why it was removed; something doesn't sound right. I can't imagine who it would offend, and why.

It isn't even my flag, but I would be proud to go to a church that displayed it.
Can't say that for a lot of other flags on this planet.
If you live there and have a problem with it.............time to move.

there is always someone out there that will be offended by something. We have one on our stage too. Probably cause thats where there is the most room for it to be seen AND our church is proud of America and our troops. This sounds like someone who is agree with the country.
