mine Me and my girl friend went hiking in Joshua Tree National Monument in California. I had a big plan to climb to the top of the cliffs and then propose to her on top over looking the lake. I even had a long romantic poem memorized... All went well. I got her to the top of the cliffs and JUst when I kneeled down, I got all nervous and blurted out "Will You Marry Me?" She said yes! So we sat and talked for a little while and she explained that she knew something was up because her 'loudmouth' friend saw me buying a nice ring--nice for a LanceCorporals pay
And she saidd I was just acting nervous. I didn't care, I was just happy that she said yes.
From here, it literally goes down hill. I didn't realize how fast it was getting dark...real dark. We were about 100' up with no light(in sandals) and the sun was already setting. No way we could get down the way we came up, so I suggested that we try a SHORTCUT. As we made our way down, my wife was scared shishless. I just didn't want her to get hurt. We came to a point where we had to cross a crevass about 5 feet wide and 30' down. No way she was gonna cross and too far to turn back. I stretched across the crevass and finally coaxed her into crawling across my back. Right in the middle(of my back), now almost too dark to even see, a HUGE swarm of BATS flew thru us!!! they were hitting her hair and flying all around us!!! She freeked the hell out. Made it across the crevass and almost all the way down. One last obstacle until we could get on the trail to the Jeep. By now its pitch black, no moon and we cant see a damn thing. That obstacle was the dam--about 8 inches wide and 40 feet across
14' and water/rocks on one side and 25' rocks and Rocks on the other. No way she was going to cross it. Again I talked her into getting on my back and I walked us across it. The only way I could see was by using my cigarette lighter while crossing with her on my back. We made it safe and sound with a kick arse story. We've been together for 13 Years now, and I swear it just keeps getting better. Not sure how I lucked out, but I'm thankful I have her and 3 beautiful healthy boys. If I could only talk her into getting me another motorcycle
Hope you like the story, its 100% true. Me and my wife made it thru that...we can make it thru anything.
