So, I just had the motor rebuilt (and more built). It had a bad head gasket that was ever so sligjtly pressurizing the coolant system. While reinstalling the turbo stuff I noticed that the water pump for the heat exchanger wasn't working. It has a "sort of" connection that mostly works but sometimes stops. I had wired an indicater led light but Im sure at the drag strip in the Sun and stress I likely didnt notice that it wasn't on.
Glad I found this. Actually, Im glad I tore the motor down, the big ends of the rods were out of spec.
