I chat with Tim every once in a while I have been on his road site for years and sometimes his forum too, and the other day I asked him why there seems to so little drama on his forum... I didnt know if had had mods or if he handled everything. His group is a different animal than we have here so it probly wouldnt work but I was thinking about the similarities and the differences between the two, here was his reply.

" Hi Kent, am scheduled to have a booth at MotoGP this year after a two-year hiatus. We did it the prior 2 years. We'll be right by Turn 2 & have teamed up with Geza Covers.

I have 12,000+ posts on my own forum so no stranger to forum la-la land. I'm less involved lately in the administration & policing of the forum in the last year as the PashnitMoto site has really taken off and requires a lot of seat time to run the product business.

I do have a good group of moderators who look over things. Things on the PMF though from it's inception has always functioned as a self-policing forum. It was actually years before I had an moderators to help me out.

I set that place up though with strict rules of no politics and no religion and no exceptions. The mantra on everything is Agree to Disagree and no argument was ever won on a forum.

There are still squabbles and people that have moved on, not a problem, forums have sort of a rotation. Where Doug and I vary just a bit is the design of the forum. His is a bike-specific forum so it's an owners forum. Both Doug and I are running forums at about the same amount of members and both global in scale.

Mine though is all about travel and photography and 'getting out there' so it's a Ride forum so there's slightly different emphasis for Doug and I. No matter what the squabble, the members constant remind each other that it's a Ride forum and there's your self-policing.

Same trolls show up, but they seem to get chased away. We did have massive problems with spamming and **** all over the forum, but the solution to that is each first post has to be approved by a moderator or the rest of the forum members can't see it. That solve the spam problem overnight.

The irony of the entire story is the word 'pashnit' became an adjective. Possibly that's the greatest flattery.

People will say, well, that's not very pashnit, or that's not in keeping with the 'pashnit spirit', and that qualms the argument right there.

The strangest thing I have had to do is remind my moderators that they too cannot get sucked into stupid arguments about politics or religion also. "

I think another thing that helps there is that 90% of those people on his site go on rides with him and spend day and night getting to know each other. Its a bash every day there....

Which accounts for why all the peeps here that get along have been to a bash or two or some other event. Those that havent..not so much.

Yeah, but no matter how great all of that is, he also has Lisa Borel on there
