On such a well thought out motorcycle...

I cringe everytime I have to take this little oil line off to remove my oil filter. I cringe because I have to wonder will this be the day I see threads coming out of that poor aluminum when I tighten it back up. Lock tight to keep it snug, don't want another mishap do we~?~

It looks to me like this could have been placed a little better~!~ Because of this little life line we have to remove the entire side fairing (or at least take it loose) to get the filter out...

Three oil changes so far, and I have never removed the oil line on my K8. You do need to remove the fairing though.

I agree why are you messing with that ?

Should slip out from somewhere else unless the design of your exhaust was not thought out properly ?

Off , up and out between two headers we see in pics is how it works with mine.

I bet it is the aftermarket header then, I had it replaced before taking it off the floor new so I never did get to try the stock header...never thought about it being a bit different...

Gotta love aftermarket parts~!~

I have to take that off on my Gen 1 due to my aftermarket pipes.
I got some bolts that were the right thread, cut the heads off and made studs that I loctite permanently in.
Now it comes off with 2 nuts.
The aluminum that the bolts are screwed into will wear out after time and then there will be a real problem.
The studs fixed that.

looks like a remedy for ya:thumbsup:

CWalker2 your Hindle should be same as Brocks I would think.
Not really sure on that as they do make things for Brocks.
But if it is same you should not have to take it off.

I'm gonna be doing it in a few days as soon as I get other prob solved.
I'll do a thread on how I get it out with pics.

Most all the aftermarket full systems require that you remove that line because there isn't enough room between the center two header pipes but......you can instead remove the lower oil cooler bracket that goes from the bottom of the oil cooler to the block and this gives me enough room with my Yosh R77 that I can snake the filter out a little higher up between the header pipes. I've done it both ways and the oil line is definitely easier for me but if you're worried about stripping out the threads on it then give this a try. The 10mm screw on the oil cooler bracket where it attaches to the block is a bit of a pain to get at but a 1/4 drive 10mm swivel socket on a long extension makes it easier and it only has to be loosened not taken out all the way. Then the bolt that holds the bracket to the cooler is removed all the way and the bracket will move enough to get the filter out up higher in the header pipes where there seems to be more room.

Wasn't there a thread a while back about this with a flex line for the fix.

Btw I like gregs idea the best. Turbo bike ftw.
