Ride one.

And if you're thinking about a Gen I bike, you might want to read this article from the archives of Cycle World magazine.

Cycle World - ’Busas, Baby! Looking Back at Suzuki’s Steamroller of Speed

If that article appeals to you, go ride one.

+1 Great Article

"The Hayabusa pulled as hard in fifth gear as other bikes accelerated in third. There was always power available, like a force of nature. " I got goosebumps after this line in the article:laugh:

First for the myths. Technically, it is classified as a sport touring bike by Suzuki as noted by the GSX prefix before the displacement. The pure sport bikes have the GSXR prefix before the displacement. To show that it is more sport than tourer, they gave some of the Katana models and the Busa the R suffix.

Now for the reality. I GSXRs may be lighter and handle better than a Busa, but the Busa is more than capable of hanging with any of the true sport bikes since most riders aren't capable of coming close to the limits on either machine. The GSXRs are less capable if you plan on spending more than couple of hours riding. You'll be able to perform at a higher level longer on the Busa with its ergonomics. Don't let haters, the ignorant, or the jelous talk you out of buying the bike you want. I wouldn't trade my Busa for a GSXR any day.

Dennis, you still need a Gixxer to go WITH the Busa. They look soooooooo good sitting next to each other in the garage! :poke:  :D

--Wag--

don't listen to them, get what you want.
if you want to do lots of track days, get a literbike.
if you want to do lots of stunts besides just wheelies, get a literbike or a 600.
if you want a comfy ride that has great pickup on the freeway, can comfortably carry a passenger, can take dragracing, and can do kiler wheelies, get a busa:laugh:

The Busa is a Hyperbike, just tell your insurance agent what you just purchased and watch their eyes get wide with dis-belief. Mine was like, "How fast does that thing go?"

They're not credible! They only seen it from the rear or in a book! There's no better bike Gen 1 or Gen 2. I have a Gen 1, and I love modding it! Yes I have some Gen 2 mods that will make it better!!!!

Great article. Thanks!

Yes, its non Busa riders saying this. Mostly other Gixxer riders.

Disregard anything you hear bad about the Hayabusa..Because everyone that has ridden one, or owns one loves them...The only people I ever hear talk bad about the bike are the people that have never ridden one...Or have no idea how to ride in the first place and do not belong on one...

I have ridden every major production model out there, including KAW's Attempt at competition the ZX14r...No other bike can compare to the Hayabusa for first class power, handling and comfort...Ride one and you will see the truth.

Buy it you wont be disappointed. The dealer I bought mine from told me and I quote
" If you want a PURE sport bike get the GSXR, If you want a BETTER all around and comfortable bike get the BUSA. Its got more power than you will EVER need around town, but man I tell you get on the hiway and some open road just grip it and rip it.
Come on say it with me SSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIII .....
Hayabusa Long live the KING:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::cheerleader:

I couldn't agree more. I have only had my Busa for one week, but the 1098 stays in the garage. The horrible range and cramped riding position on the 1098 make it unrealistic for most of my rides, and the 1800 mile tire life was getting old. The Busa has become my everyday bike, and the 1098 will be saved for track days and more focused group rides.

well said!!!!

I love it when I blow by squids on "sport bikes" in the twisties

I've had a few show disrespect to "us" going down the freeway...sorta like the Roadrunner going "beep beep" to the coyote before he takes off in a cloud of dust...HOW DARE THEY??!!!.....We take off after them and when they see that they can't lose us, and back off, then it's our turn to go "beep beep" and make short work of their impudence!

Long live the king!

Seriously tho Texas Cop...who cares what the haters and the jealous say or think? Trust me...they know what you have...unless they're ignorant as well as jealous.

I mean aside from it being a 1st generation bike. I am hearing comments like its a "sporty" touring bike and not a true sport bike. I hear its nothing more than a Katana because of where the R is in the name. Overwhelmingly I hear the bike is bulbous and ugly.

Where did all the anomosity come from with these bikes?

If people don't own the same thing as you they're usually going to try and tear it down......its human nature. They want to feel they have as good or better. Humans and their VERY fragile ego's
You should be buying the bike for you, not for other folks :beerchug:
