Ride one.
And if you're thinking about a Gen I bike, you might want to read this article from the archives of Cycle World magazine.
Cycle World - ’Busas, Baby! Looking Back at Suzuki’s Steamroller of Speed
If that article appeals to you, go ride one.
This just sounds SO wrongits called penis envy....
anyways, lots of guys will say things....but few have ever ridden one.
Great article. Thanks!
Yes, its non Busa riders saying this. Mostly other Gixxer riders.

If you want a PURE sport bike get the GSXR, If you want a BETTER all around and comfortable bike get the BUSA.
First for the myths. Technically, it is classified as a sport touring bike by Suzuki as noted by the GSX prefix before the displacement. The pure sport bikes have the GSXR prefix before the displacement. To show that it is more sport than tourer, they gave some of the Katana models and the Busa the R suffix.
Now for the reality. I GSXRs may be lighter and handle better than a Busa, but the Busa is more than capable of hanging with any of the true sport bikes since most riders aren't capable of coming close to the limits on either machine. The GSXRs are less capable if you plan on spending more than couple of hours riding. You'll be able to perform at a higher level longer on the Busa with its ergonomics. Don't let haters, the ignorant, or the jelous talk you out of buying the bike you want. I wouldn't trade my Busa for a GSXR any day.

Where did all the anomosity come from with these bikes?

If people don't own the same thing as you they're usually going to try and tear it down......its human nature. They want to feel they have as good or better. Humans and their VERY fragile ego'sI mean aside from it being a 1st generation bike. I am hearing comments like its a "sporty" touring bike and not a true sport bike. I hear its nothing more than a Katana because of where the R is in the name. Overwhelmingly I hear the bike is bulbous and ugly.
