Ghetto vs. Velocity

I knew remapping would be a must. Just was not sure if something so radical as the exhaust set up, would be ok or have to use a single can rather than wnating a dual can setup.
Dual can will work fine if that is what yu want. You just will not get the max out of your system. If you are looking for a sleeper it will be fine. I had a setup with a turbo and duel HMF cans years ago. If the tune is done right it will work fine. just maybe 20hp ess then a dump.

Also If do Dump Pipe anyway to hide it were no one knows you have it? As well as how about with a pipe on it like above that sold with it and all does that look as much hp too? aka dump pipe vs single can vs dual cans.

Im not at this point wanting to have huge amounts of hp, i think 250 will be plenty. this things gotta be a daily driver/racer:)... i like the fact that if im cruiseing there is no added stress. looks like the ghetto kit has my name on it! if these kits come with pc3 maps whats there to tune...? blowoff valve, wastegate, pressure spring? doesnt sound like a custom map is rly nessary. any input greatly appreciated.

thanks for correcting me i must have confused the computer map with an actual computer. about how many of these kits has themotorhead sold? i do want a dump pipe so +1 for ghetto, donot want the air cleaner sticking out+2. well i am leaning twoards ghetto as of yet, any velocity guys out there?

How often are you guys serviceing your turbos? blades bearings and such? thanks again
a month ago he said he has about 80+ sold and has installed 40 or so. This is his second yr selling them.

you can get a dump with the velocity also if you want. shouldn't have to service much on the turbo as long as you change the oil regularly and keep that filter on and clean. if you start letting sand and dirt get sucked into the turbo, you will soon find your blades becoming eroded or bent.

you can run your dump out the back of the bike.... just like nj did. check his bike out. Its still going to be louder than a full exhaust.

yes you will need a custom pc map. You NEED to make sure you are getting enough fuel at mid to high rpms. If you don't you WILL burn up your motor faster than you can believe.

thx for the info fstbusa. quik question, wil the dump pipe leave carbon deposits on the fairing? dont want to make the spendy $paint$ look dirty all the time.

Velocity offers either the full exhaust or the dump which ever you choose...If you want both you can have them for an additional $250.00...The reason the stage 1 street comes with an internal wastegate (as explained to me) is to keep the owner from pushing the bike beyond the limits of a stock engine...Makes sense...
As said the full exhaust is crap 2 1/4" air choking waste of cash. I too owned the velocity stage one kit WITH the exhaust (I ordered with the idea it was 2.5" My mistake completely of course)

Tell Kevin he is full of crap about the internal wastegate concept. There is a little rod that adjusts and will allow the owner to make more boost. MANY people have tried and made 12+ lbs of boost through internal wastegate systems which will definitely toast any motor if not done correctly. They did it because of cost PERIOD.

Its strange the ghetto kits came out and took off and then Velocity suddenly knocked $1000 of most of their kits in order to compete. BUT NLR didn't. Andersson didn't.
Look man I'm not contesting the diameter of the pipe just answering the mans question...As for the purpose of the internal wastegate I repeat I was stating its purpose as explained to me...

I don't think it's so strange for prices to decrease to remain competitive...NLR and Anderson are in another league...

i have velocity stage 1 makes 260hp on firsts stage have not use 2nd stage yet,but can get power up to 300hp use race fuel.also i belive you can upgrade stage 1 you donot have to sell.get thicker head gasket use boost contoller can get over 12 pounds of boost.you can also put pistons in later, but you can crank boost up and may need larger injectors.i will be doing this after summer.with out selling my system it will work i already seen 12.5 pounds at 7000rpm by tapping second stage button, sorry i have tried it once.let off since motor is not built for 12pounds

How loud, I would not want to loose 20hp I could have going with a Dual Exhaust vs a dump pipe. But then again I am not one to advertise I got a Turbo, if I can hide it all and make it look stock dual cans hehehe... know were I am getting at. Like to find a way not too loose 20hp without having to go the dump pipe way...

Rather have a 2.5" pipe to a Y connector were all 3 parts are 2.5" and 2 2.5" Midpipes and run 2 HMF BigBirds. I think that would be awsome and if not those then Yoshimura Tri-Oval Dual tip cans. I am not looking to run race fuel just max power ect... on Pump using intercooler ect...

Also not out to impress either just like to try new and different things and ways of doing something to get most out of something and then some.

expect to lose atleast 10 hp if you bolt on a good exhaust. That is due to the longer tubing and baffling will cause the loss(more restrictance/less flow). I will run a dump pipe out the back of my plastics as others have said BUT with my kit (mcxpress) I am merely adding a second pipe to my kit supplied header pipe. I can switch to full exhaust for my once a year safety inspection.

Motorhead has done a dual exhaust system on an Mcxpress kit exactly as you described. If you go extreme (400 hp kit) you can easily do the dual exhaust and get yourself into the mid 300's on pump but it will cost some serious $$$$$ in the end.

No beef with you. I'll happily state my opinion here or on Kevin's board if I happen to be there. Facts are facts. As for the price decrease, well I found it funny only because Barry had repeatedly denounced the quality of the ghetto kit and gave the "you get what you pay for" speach. He then turns around and proves he's in the same league as the "lesser" kit because he lowers his kit to the same price.

I know of a few guys who have ran 15+ psi on hahn kits which are VERY similar to the Velocity stage one kit.

been running a velocity stage two kit for two years now with no problems yet....i did the install and tuning myself with a lot of tech support from kaos and velocity...got kaos cell # and would call any time and he was always ready to help...i also got alot of help from barry and ken at velocity...and i am very happy with the 300 plus hp i don't drag race or plan on doing it so what i have is more than enough for me...i think the main thing with these kits is the install done properly they are all great kits done wrong and it an accident waiting to happen so if you are not mechanically incline which ever kit you choose have it install and tune by a good tuner!!!!!

I have the Stage 1 ghetto kit on mine for a couple of months @ 6#'s and it dynoed at 238whp and 121wtq. It is awesome. I have the dump pipe and love the sound, not to mention when you pass someone or if you are on the interstate. They know that you are there.

got that right!!!!

dump just sounds wicked in my opinion and not as loud as a harley... just perfect.

did you do the install yourself? are you using the map TMH sent with the kit? its hard to belive that the only thing needed to tune these kits is the map he sends wth the kit, as long as its installed properly.

there is nothing really much else to tune. Install everything correctly and set the initial fuel pressure on the regulator and throw the map in and you should be good to go.
