Got leaned on by a zx14 saturday........

Launch, those are some killer numbers. Way to hold it down for the Busa family. I just wanna know how in the world you ran that fast. Did you spray him? I have about the exact same bike and weight a little less than you and cant run those kind of numbers. I need to know your secret.
 
I'm not spraying,, I'm just on motor.  I launch at 8k. The key is getting your bike tuned and gearing.  If you're over 200lbs like my fat ass, then you want to change your gearing especially if you're drag racing. I'm geared at 16/42 and I'm running at stock exhaust, I just modified it at the midpipes.  I got my bike tuned through the stock ecu.  But if you have a pc, then get it tuned. don't use the maps that's on pc.com; by gettin' it tuned that map is just for your bike.

Is it more expensive to get the stock ecu tuned or is there a benifit to having the power commander over doing it that way? I just wonder if it is possible to do it that way, why everyone gets pcs?

Launch, I leave about the same as you and have about the same 60' times on motor, but dont have the end results you do. I have what I though was a well tuned bike, but I guess she is just getting a little tired. She has about 24,000 hard miles on her and over 300 drag passes. Your numbers on motor will give me some motivation to go into her this winter and freshen her up. I am gonna bore it to a 1397 and get the head fully done with some new cams as well. I guess that would be a good time to check the rings and bearings too.

it's actually more expensive to tune the bike through the power commander. But the benefits going through the pc is if you're going to spray, got to add more fuel and also if you got any motor work. From my understanding tuning the bike through the ecu is good only if you have a stock motor.

now with that 1397, you'll be moving. What rpm's are you shifting? what gearing do you have on your bike? And are you at full throttle when you're launching it off the line? What tire size do you have as well? All of this have a factor into your time in the quarter. I had a grudge run against this guy that had a busa, motor work, nitrous, airshifter, with exhaust, pc3 and stretched out the same wheelbase as me. At first I wanted some bike lengths cuz of the difference of the two bikes but I just went out on the limb and told him that he couldn't run as fast as me using all of his goodies going heads up. We set the race and I must say I was impress with my own self cuz I put my foot up his ass and got paid. But he didn't know how to ride that thing. He has a low 9, high 8 bike and only ran 9.6's. You got to let that ##### go and hold on and shift it at the right spot.....

Launch, way to get payed man. My bike is geared 16/43, is 12 over with a Shinko tire, has a Muzzy sidewinder, cams, rods, pc3 with custom mapping and wet nitrous. On motor I run 1.50 60' times, but only get 6.3's in the eighth and like mid 9.4's in the quarter. On nitrous, sixty foot times are in the 1.4's, with eighth times droppin to like 5.8's and quarter times droppin to like high 8.7's. I am so ready to get that motor work done though. I feel like I am moving in slow motion these days after runnin the same numbers for 2 years.
 
I can understand that prez, but you're doing the damn thang yourself. I just put on my airshifter and it's working out pretty good. Lowered my time and that's what I want. Now I'm about to put a dry shot of nos on there and see what she can do. I want to get into the mid 8's, when I do that then I'm done.. That wouldn't be bad for a 240lb man huh??
 
Seen a ZX14 at the bike show Saturday. It was all blinged out but Damn! That thing is still ugly as all hell... WTF was Kawi thinking when they designed that thing?
 
when you yoshi box the ecu, you cant change it back from what i understand. pc's are good for all around street/strip applications. im 185 b4 leathers. stock motor and swingarm.
last week i went a 1.61 60' and 9.80 @140. best 60' but not my best et. tom. night im racing a zx-12 thats been talking trash. he has motor work and spray. he weighs alot more than me and hasnt raced his bike this yr. that i know of. ill update later.

I sure do!! When I get home friday night I'll scan one of the tickets and post it on here so I can make a believer out of you. If we were close to each other, I would spar against you so you can see just how fast the black ghost can go....
 
So the TRE actually hurts in 1/4 mile runs, huh? Man - info like this makes me so glad I found this site!

I'm going +4 this winter with air shifter and a dry spray. Think I'll need clutch mods?
