Great weekend at Maxton

Come on dude, we want the pix and vids and all the news. Heard Debbie (Damurf) set a scooter record at 38 MPH

Did she~?~ I told her she needed to pull it out and run it but never knew she actually did...she said too many 600's there to set a record.

I know when Todd took his side car off he ended up having to sit at the starting line and let his tire cool down for track clean up or something. He did not put his tire warmer back on and said hes just going to make an "easy" warm up run. He did take off real easy and then came the cb channel 1 saying 218 mph. I told Debbie, yeah...nice easy run wasn't it~!~ LoL

 Funny. No official record just me having fun running up the track after hours on the scooter. Sometimes you gotta take the speed any way you can get it! LOL

Hubby had a great weekend tho. 4 new records on the Purpose Driven Racing NA Busa sidecar and topped his Maxton personal best on the Scott Guthrie Racing "mid range - stage 2 or something?" turbo bike 6 times with 3 of them being over 220 MPH! :cheerleader:

Wish I could have had my bike back there. It's the first time he hasn't made it since I got him. Well I guess all in all that's pretty good! He'll be back out in October and maybe giving some friends a ride once more. He may have one more mission left for him this year but that remains to be seen. I'm probably still on pit duty because there are goals to be had that don't involve me being the pilot but exciting for me to be involved in just the same.

I had fun playing head tech while Todd was flying in and fun training two new techs that did an awesome job! It was a fun weekend even without being a pilot! :beerchug:

It was great to see and meet some fellow board members at the event. :beerchug: I feel like a real azz about meeting Mark. I've talked, meet, and even borrowed a sprocket from Mark a few years ago at a previos Maxton event. I never knew he was the "outlaw"

I'm really sold on those GoPro cameras. I think my wife might look at getting me one for next season. You can see in your video how your leathers around your arms and back flap around. :banghead: Next time before the event throw some stitches below the zipper and through the ziper arm on your back vents so that they can't roll open or flap around during the event. It was also nice to see his wife, baby, and even the lil fur ball supporting him in his efforts to go fast. It's great to be able to share racing moments not only with your fellow racers but also with your family.

It was great to meet tofas2c - Kevin as well. You were so darn close to getting the jacket in the nitrous class. I wish there could have been more done to improve your chances. I know how frustrating it can be to hit that wall and just not be able to make any progress. Just keep having fun doing it. I'll PM you all that information we talked about. It's up to you what plan to take. :beerchug: I wish I could have been more help to you. In the least, get a gauge and borrow Mark's gopro camera to record a pass and see what your pressure is doing during a pass. I'm sure the extra bottle helped a little and at least you could see the before/after pass pressure but the during a run pressure is critical. It's tough to make any suggestions/changes without knowing what the system is doing. :banghead:

Some of my buddies are trying to convince me to go again next month but I'm not budgeted for it. I've got to replace my throttle housing and do some more work on the bike so I haven't determined yet what I'll do. In the worst case I'll see you guys again next season.

When we left on Saturday we were going to say goodbye to you guys but I didn't see you guys and there wasn't anyone at your mobile chateau.

It was great meeting you Ken. I learned a lot about no2 this weekend. You need a lot to run at maxton. I hope to work out the kinks for next time and get a little bit faster. Thanks for all your input. It is nice to have people that dont mind helping others out. I will but your suggestions to work and hopefully i wont hit the same snags next time. :beerchug:

Thought I'd post this pic from a year ago at Maxton. Running stock height.

Notice the blue sun glasses...some of you have heard the story about them. If not, might want to write this down...if you wear blue polarized glasses, use an iridium face shield, and look through a polarized wind screen then all the little orange cones that line the track turn into blurry blue and green cones over 175mph~!~ :poke:

what about the nut job who went 272?

I believe he was out at Bonneville wasn't he~?~

I'm thinking the fastest at Maxton is still 260 and Loring is 265.

You're right though, that fella was flat out gettin it~!~

Yea, the outer mounting point for the gears pin cracked. The cause was flex/shock load. Replaced the outercover/outer mounting point with a beefier piece, replaced the pins with solid beefy ones. No problems since then. :beerchug:

did you ever determine the cause of the failure on the starter side of the motor? (your oil leak)?
