Gun Laws, what is coming at a national level?

I'm gonna go home and bury my Pmags in a plastic bucket in my yard... That way once the ban is lifted I can dig them up, if the govt comes knocking they can look in my safe and find nothing but my family pictures...

They have polymer sniffing dogs for that. :poke:

I think that folks would then just starting using other caliber weapons... The govt would always be ammo hopping looking for the latest "popular" ammo used to kill...

They don't make Ar15 or Ak47 in .38 special or 30/30. Neither would they ever. So to limit the four calibers I mention would effectively control these weapons.

Awww Geesh! He's got kids on the stage. We're done :)

I cant watch it, I might actually try to reach through the TV to get him...and I cant afford a new TV at the moment

Besides not like it wont be available on any/every outlet for the next 100yrs

I feel like i'm watching history - the day we trashed the 2nd Amendment.

- Used children too young to have any informed opinion as tools...identical kids with identical letters could be used at NRA press conference to allow guns in schools..
- Executive Orders (23), no specifics on what they are.
- Proposing (thru Congressional legislation)
- Universal background check for all firearms sales including private. Didn't mention ammo. Suspect that data becomes government (and therefore public) information.
- AWB Ban (no specifics)
- 10-round mag limit.
- Wants them to confirm new ATF director (don't know him but suspect gun grabber)
- Continually invoking "It's all about our kids"...
- Brought parents of one of the murdered Newtown kids, put camera on to watch them publicly grieve (as a parent I grieve with them)

The shot has now been fired across the bow.

All I can say is bs. The criminals dont care what laws are passed. The criminals will be better equipped than the responsible gun owners.

Someone needs to stop this madness. How can he bypass the congressional process with executive orders so often just because the congress disagrees with his bs? I surely hope someone takes this up as a constitutional issue and finds him in violation. :banghead::banghead:

There's a new sign on the door to the white house. It reads "please ignore the noise while we slowly bend the ends of these crosses to the right. Also please mind the wet paint as we update the color scheme to black and red" :banghead::banghead:

Here we go....

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

Obama has consequences. Here's a short term possibility in the future:
3D-printed 30-round AR magazine brings us ever closer to a fully 3D-printed gun | ExtremeTech

The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Anyone who mentions hunting doesn't even know what he's talking about. I hope the supreme court gets involved with this. :please: But, seeing how obamacare got through, it's not looking good.

On a more positive thought,
I wonder where new pilgrims can go since Obama and his 'kind' rule here?

Depending on what exactly those really contain, 13 & maybe 16 sound like possible bad things. I suspect though that the actual language of those actually will vary from the titles, kinda like obama care and the stuff contained within it that really has no bearing to health care

Really doesn't sound all that bad to me. More smoke and mirrors.. This administration is VERY good at that..

One thing I can say is that I'm glad I didn't buy an overpriced AR..

He did ask for a ban on assault style weapons as well. He just can't do that through executive order. Has to go through both the senate and the house.

One thing I can say is that I'm glad I didn't buy an overpriced AR..

Yep! After all the freaking out, what do we get? A bunch of well-worded nothing.

Oh I suspect there's some meat to it we just aren't being told what exactly it is. They sky isn't falling but thats not to say we should blindly accept it wont and this is the first real call that chicken little would be making. Dont forget the story, we should be mindful to at least stay aware of why folks say the sky is falling and measure its worth when presented with the facts.

For the people that say they will not give up there weapons, what are you going to do with it when it's illegal, you will not be able to shoot it, show people, it will just collect dust and always have to worry about it, what if someone breaks in when your gone and steals it, you can't report it stolen? It's illegal.

Just wanted to share the FBI's crime stats for the year 2005 and the year 2011 (In that order)
