Some people just don't believe a bike out of the crate will go almost 200mph . People are always asking me how fast will it go . When I say about 187 or better ( I never try to explain the mysteries of a T.R.E. to them ) They alway go check the speedometer and ask , " But whats the fastest you've gone ? " I always answer , " As fast as it will go " .

a long timne ago a freind of mine went out and bought an ex cop car Ford 500 with the "police interceptor" 460 motor. He was talking about how fast it was and telling me it would do 150+mph. So one friday night on the way home from work he is driving in front of me and he has this thing floored for about a mile and a half before I came past him at about 150 (on my GS1150) with a good 40mph in hand. I walked up to him later at that bar laughing and said that my friend is what 150mph looks like!

Thats the EXACT reply I always give. (as fast as it will go) I can't think of ANY car that will accel from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. That Aerosmith rollercoaster at Disney World took off (i think) from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds. I remember tellin my wife its almost like takin off on the Busa.

When I was 18 I had an 83 GPZ 750, probably the slowest sportsbike in the world, and a buddy of mine in a 78 Camero with thousands of dollars in the engine tried to race me. It was a really fast car but I took him easily. I have had so many mustangs try to take the busa. It is amazing how ignorant people can be. There is always someone out there that has to try to race you when you are on a Busa. Left a bike show last night and was two up with wife and a guy on a Harley tried to take me on a off ramp. Did not even have to accelerate hard enough that my wife had to grap ahold of me with that (death grip) required on most accelerations.

Uh Bill (who's about 60 BTW) don't go racing Busa's in your Tiberon O.K.

Should have told him you weren't sure which one would win since those Tibs are quick. Arranged a race. Then come up with the off the cuff, why don't we make this a liitle interesting. How about putting $100 on it just for fun? See how confident he really is in his fast car.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE ?

If this guy I know tells me one more time that "those new V Rods will spank those Gixxer's like you have" my head will probably explode !!!!!

For the first 4 times he said it, I would just say "oh really", which is the comment I usually give to someone that tells me how thier Harley they have can take a Busa. Well after a while I said "I don't know the Busa is a pretty fast bike", and without missing a beat he says "Dude I've seen it". I feel like telling him it don't count if the guy on the Busa don't know he's racing !!!!

AND WHAT IN THE HE11 IS UP WITH THE MUSTANG'ERS ?

I think I love Mustangs more than anyone !! (and the older 5.0's...FORGET ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!!) But these young bucks think they are the fastest things on wheels !!

Hmm... I used to sucker Bikes into racing me all the time. Your average rider on a non-turbo'd bike would loose every time in a 0-60 or 1320' race. Unless they were very experienced riders, which I knew all of them on the island (Oahu, Hawaii) I never worried.... then to, I had a 2000 Camaro Z-28 that I built for drag racing every weekend and driving to work every day. 0-60 was relatively quick 3.3sec doing the math, against a 10.6 @ 127mph qtr mile with only 100 shot of nitrous (kept 220 on tap just in case!).

Tiburon though..yeah I would have had to line up with him and then ease off so he would puff his chest out and feel like a man.

This is a very interesting conversation. The answer comes down to power to weight ratio. If you have a high horsepower car (500hp), but it weighs as much as a mountain (Mustang GT500), you will not be able to accelerate quickly. Here's the math. Ford GT is the current record holder as far as I know for a regular production car <$200k at 6.2 lb/hp. My Ford Focus is about 21.7 lb/hp. However, a stock Hayabusa is about 3.3 lb/hp. There's absolutely no contest. Don't these people realize that even a novice drag racer could probably cut a 10sec quarter mile on a stock Busa. You'd have to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on a car to make that happen.

I don't know why but it's the guys in the 325i's who are always trying to race me. Them and the tuner cars. Gotta laugh every time.

The other day, a Mustang GT was in front of me getting on the freeway. He revved his engine at me and tried to leave me in the dust. I stayed right behind him, of course and when he hit the main road, he "hammered" on it.

It was one of those days I couldn't just let him go so I blew past him at 130 and left him about a mile behind before I eased off to the speed limit. A little while later, he finally drove past me and absolutely refused to make eye contact! Funny as hell.

Sometimes, you'll get a Vette or a Viper and they can be some fun but still, they just don't realize.
