H.I.D.s install on my 08 Hayabusa

I just installed the EFX conversion kit on my car yesterday, what a difference! Now I am going to have to do the bike...oh, I went with the 8000K on the car, I think I'll stick with that for the bike. Nice blue tint but not too blue.

Looks good buddy, may I ask what brand / where you got those HID's?

So you got a h7 low beam and 9005 high beam kit?

Great write-up - thanks for taking the time to write this up!

h7 and h9 for gen 2s. h7 and h5 for gen 1s. I got the 6k bulbs for low and high. And you need to order 2 single kits for your bike if you want low and high beam. I found out the hard way. Got the low beam adjusted last night. Need to ride it and see how well it lights up a very dark road.

You will be amazed. I'm good with the factory lights on my Gen II but the HIDs are without argument an improvement. Post pix, you know the :rulez:

What the new hids actually found lurking in the front yard.....

Um DoD3 yes there are close to showing belts!!! No tread at all on the left side of the front tire. I just got the front wheel off and hope to have a matching set of race scrubs on her by the weekend for the summer fun! Until then I will cheat on her with her older and thinner sister! The girls (Bike and G/F) goes where I go!!!

Hey dud, I hope the invite to stop by on the way to NY is still available.. Not sure when I'm leaving yet with the bike though..

So you need two of the single kits (the bottom one of the four) to do both the low and high beam on the K8?

Liquidysplit: Yep the invite is still there! Just PM me when you know what is going on!

1meanZ: Yep you need to order 2 of the single kits. On for each bulb type H7 and H9 for a gen 2 and H7 and H5 for a gen 1.

Got the front tire mounted and balanced tonight. Finally rode it with the hids on some dark roads....WOW! Not dark anymore! I mean OH MAY GOSH!!!! Lights everything up! Didn't bring the camera! But an awesome mod!!! A must do! And with the high beams on WOW WOW!!!

And here is the do it yourself way to set up the headlamps for your hids!

1: Find a level surface and a vertical wall or a garage door. Park your busa close to the wall (you sitting on it vertical). Front wheel almost touching the wall. Use a piece of masking tape to mark the low beam hot spot (may need a helper for this to make it easier to do.) Put the tape length wise in the middle of the hot spot and make sure it is as flat and even as you can get it.

2: Then make sure you and the bike a very straight and back up 25 feet. (Take a tape measure and measure back 25 feet from the wall and mark that spot with the tape.)

3: Locate your screws on your busa for adjusting the headlamp. I left the dash off and other parts to make access easier to get to the adjusters. This works for both gen 1's and 2's. But there are other means to adjust the headlamps too, if you had already installed the dash. (Refer to service repair manual)

4: Turn the vertical adjusting screw with the low beams on only, and adjust them so the hot spot is 2 inches below the tape line on the wall (Garage door). That is it, your high beam is adjusted with the low beam. This method is pretty good. You may still have to fine tune it some, but ther you have it!
