I thought this would be interesting. Base model H2SX. Prices in loonies (CAD) which would you buy?
It would be, but take that passion away the Kawasaki has more power 200hp claimed, better ergonomics, factory hard bag option, possible better insurance price (1000cc), and save $500.Should be a no brainer for fans of the Hayabusa....
That's why the Gen 3 threads have taken off so well...we are passionate about our Hayabusas. It would be, but take that passion away the Kawasaki has more power 200hp claimed, better ergonomics, factory hard bag option, possible better insurance price (1000cc), and save $500.
it has a lot going for it. But in the end motorcycle purchase is all about passion.
It looks like the one I quoted is the base model from 2019 (non SE or SE+) and is no longer offered in 2020. But a quick look at kijiji shows some still in dealershipsOnly problem is the prices aren't the same as they were in 2019. Not to mention Kawasaki has large rebates because they just aren't selling, not much is on the street side. Off-road stuff took off during the pandemic when people starting spending time outside again.
Comparing a current model year to the Busa is more fair since you can't buy a 2019, and if you can there's a reason it's been sitting for almost 3-years...
As you can see prices have jumped a LOT in just the last couple years on everything. Heck, 600's are selling for more than I paid for my first 3-Hayabusas...

Man they nickel and dime you for every part of that bag system lol. But $1000 is about going rate for factory hard bags I think.Yep, I wasn't sure if a base model is offered anymore. But I know a few guys with H2's and other than basic mods most are either still on a Busa or going back to one because they don't live in high-HP applications like the Busa does..
Hard bags are a great option for some, I just currently don't have a need for them.
Is $1k a decent price?, not sure what people paid for the (I think) Corbin bags offered for the Busa years ago.

240HP from the sx se with an exhaust and flash. I'd imagine you could push 250hp with minor other changes. Not sure of the size of it, and/or how comfortable it is, but that's a lot of power. Not to mention used you can find them for $15k all day.
I think the prices are high. I can't see spending that kind of $$$ for these bikes. I guess maybe I'm just set on a price I would pay and those are past it. I'm cheap.
Yep H2 SX.... Kawasaki bothered to make an effort for their customers...Should be a no brainer for fans of the Hayabusa....
The Duke is a completely different ride but I love that bike!!!! If we had a KTM dealer I would be riding that now. However, I really like the Busa's big inline 4 the best of all engines. I like the smooth turbine-like, endless power. The Duke I rode for a day had a lot of engine braking, so much that you really had to be careful and keep a hand ready to feather the clutch. Still, that bike is all grins and you will not believe how fast it is on a twisty road.I’d go the other way and consider a KTM 1290 Superduke GT. 190hp with v twin torque, electronic suspension with bells and whistles and the genuine panniers for $200 more ride away.
The sound coming out of one with pipes is intoxicating too...The Duke is a completely different ride but I love that bike!!!! If we had a KTM dealer I would be riding that now. Merely through that out there considering all these bikes are considered tourers and the market is flooded with exceptional bikes with more bells and whistles for the same money. I’ve ridden the 1290 GT and the Super Adventure countless times and get excited every time. The Duke is a completely different ride but I love that bike!!!! I know for me, money wasn't the driving force behind my buying a Hayabusa, nor was ultimate performance...it was the essence of the bike which drew me in.
