harley riders....

Whole back pressure thing is a myth......and its not the exhaust.......its the engine....the harley vtwin.....the configuration that gives its sound....anyways its hilarious...... And i own one

Absolutely true. As they say, "Live to pose. Pose to live."

Btw......you are very wrong .....every rider has his circle.....maybe it not yours.....might be diff....but doesnt mean theyre not "real" riders....just as many if not more posers on sportbikes... I guess those iba guys or other oldies who ride hogs rent real riders.....

The average Harley owner spends more time polishing his bike than he does riding it. That's why a lot of people consider them posers. Hell, where I live, most Harleys are parked outside a cafe all day, so the owners can show everyone that they have a Harley.

I love hearing the HD crowd blathering about how great their bikes are. - Most of them have never been anywhere near a Jap sport bike in their lives and have no basis for comparison, yet they keep running their mouths.

I know a guy who works at a Harley dealership, who says he would never buy a Harley. I think that speaks volumes about the product.

Bla bla bla bla bla.......i guess your bike is always dirty......im a poser then since i spend time polishing the wheels on the busa and the harley... Baseless facts ......done here......waste of time......i dont ride much anyways......Ull b surprised what a change in attitude could do. U are what u percieve......

I can only go by what I see, in my group I am the only sport bike everyone else is on a HD or Metric. These guys ride the tires off these cruisers, only thing that scares me, none like gear they know what they are risking from a fall, but the love of the ride an the feeling of freedom from feeling the air in your face, they refuse to bow to fear. "Posers" None of my riding buddies are posers. I don't agree with their choice of gear but I don't need to, I pray for them, and the way people drive here gear or no gear you need an angel on shoulder regardless. They know how to ride an they know how to enjoy it. You can tap anyone of them on the shoulder an ask them "Wanna ride to Orlando for lunch an then Tampa for dinner?" and they would be all over it.

If anyone here thinks cause they put on full leathers an gear and start cutting through turns at double the posted limit, or you can ride through traffic all day long on the rear wheel makes you a real rider I disagree with that persons opinion. I am little curious as to what a real rider is. I see guys on Harleys revving up their bikes at stop lights, but I see sport bikers bouncing theirs to the rev limiter or smoking the tire at lights too.

Thank you....FACE!!!:moon:

There is good and bad in all bike assciations.

Sport bike riders have a reputation of one kind and the HD riders have a reputation of another kind.

I have ridden with both groups and I am happy their bike does for them what they want it to do.

It is everyones personal choice as to what they want in a mcycle and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm glad some of us have more open minds than others. The gang here at RoadLoK rides anything and everything and with a very open mind. We love bikes, period. Doesn't matter what the label is, Harley, Ducati, Yamaha or Suzuki. If it has two wheels and a motor it's all good. We also stay away from making comments like "all" or "most" ie: "most of them have never been near a jap bike". It's kind of like saying "all women are bad drivers".
Open up your minds people - there is good and bad in everything and to generalize about a certain group of people is pretty childish.
Carry On - Safe Riding! I'll wave to you no matter what you ride.

Thank you Daryl and Carlsbadbusa, it's not what you ride but that you ride. When someone starts making comments about 'real riders' they generally don't know of what they speak. There are bad examples of behavior in every crowd and the intolerance toward other riders because of what they ride is behavior of the worst kind and only shows their limited experience and lack of appreciation for the sport and motorcycle history. Yeah, yeah....now I'm done too.

I wave to every rider all the time even if they dont wave back. I wave to harleys and if i dont get one back then whatever screw them but I almost always get one back if they see me. Im okay with harley riders I just thought the southpark thing was funny  cause it does resemble SOME harley riders in essence

That video made me LOL! Some of the comments on here however are a little off base. I bet about 50% of the members here own Harleys including myself. Do I like revving my Harley up and getting people to look at me? HELL YA! I bet NONE of you do that on your sport bikes do you? I spend just as long cleaning my Harley as I do my Busa, I enjoy having a clean motorcycle, what's wrong with that? I know when I get on either bike, there is a good chance that people riding the "other" bikes are not going to wave at me and it doesn't bother me one bit. I agree that most of the HD guys are azzholes when they get together in a group and they have a superiority / price tag complex. It is to be expected and there is nothing you are going to do to change it, venting about it on a forum does what?

The southpark clip was so stereotypical, that's only true with 90% of the Harley riders in my area...rotflmao

My buddy on a Harley last week, commented on how much fun we had riding. He said he had been riding alone, because the Harley crowd couldn't ride over 20 miles, without stopping at a beer joint or a convenient store.

Took my buddies Road King for a maintenance ride yesterday due to him having surgery. It is a nice bike and a cushy ride. Passed a couple of sportbikes and got the 1 finger salute. There are jerks on every brand and pigeon hole riders not of their same "style". I will stick to my Busa and continue to ride with my 1 HD riding buddy. At the very least he will RIDE and not talk about riding.

It is sad but, most of the ones buying a HD are not true motorcyclists.
They are in it for the social event and the clothing.
This became very evident to me last year.
I was cleaning the busa at a motel in the Black Hills. Surrounded by a group (men and women riders) on harleys from Minnesota. One of the women asked what brake do you use the most? I was about to bite through my lip in order to contain the smart azz comment fighting to get out. I continued to hear a 10 minute debate between them on which brake you should use more. It was priceless.
Not to worry, they finally voted on the front. I would not have left with them thinking other wise. I just asked God to watch out for them.

That pretty much sums it up I had 4 friends go out and buy Harleys in one weekend 3 of them had never even rode a motorcycle.:banghead: It is definately a monkey see monkey do thing. But lets not forget about our SQUIDS they give us a good black eye also

"everyone wishes they could own a Harley, the guys on Jap bikes are just jealous because they cant afford a Harley"
Thats the mentality I hate.
My neighbor has an electra glide and he's always ready to ride anywhere anytime. So they aren't all bad, just 90%....lol

The South Park thing was pretty darn funny.

I've got 2 harleys and up until 2 years ago, never even sat on a sport bike. Now i wont hardly get off of it.

I ride with a National MC club and am currently National VP. Mostly Harley's and cruiser bikes. I ride my Busa 75% of the time when doing club functions and rides. Guess what, those hard core harley guys ( of which i am still one of) BEG me for a chance to get on the Busa!

People in a group, no matter what the group always act differently than by themselves. It's why we have the fields of study Psychology and Sociology.

I was at my first sport bike race this weekend and let me tell ya i could barely hear myself think from all the sport bikes hitting the rev limiter...You could do that same SouthPark Episode with that sound and mentality.

Another interesting thing i noticed at those races, were the different Brand/Style groups. BMW, Yamaha, Suzuki..1000's, motards, gold wings, Ducs sccoters; All with their own way of distinguishing themselves. And man what holier than thou attitudes you get from the Kawi Concours guys...whew, would put any harley snarl to shame. I'm just saying, we all have a certain way of acting depending on who we hang with and what we are riding.

But, like what's been said before, keep an open mind and respect all bikes and bikers. Choose to ride with who you want, but get off the stereotypical bandwagon.

From a new Harley rider, here is my response:

They are not in it for the social event and the clothing, but for the sound. It has to sound like "potato, potato, potato, baked potato, potato, potato, potato."
The brake argument on a Harley is due to the back brake actually working better than the front brake. With a 1/2 lid, the wind and noise above 60mph is so bad, who needs brakes anyway?
A true Harley rider hates twin cams and fuel injection. What was Harley thinking? New Harleys and anything else are no longer "true motorcycles."
Harley is a true motorcycle, they started with what was really a motorcycle, everything else, since then is not a true motorcycle, cause the potato sound in not there.
Most Harley riders only break the law a little, by making noise, they hardly ever exceed the speed restriction by 25mph above. Sport bike riders on the other hand......
We are working on a new sigarette and a new cigar, both will stay together and keep on burning above 55mph.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Seriously though, a Harley is fun, it's nostalgic and as weird as it may seem to us techies, Harley sells more bikes than anyone else, so they must be doing something good for their shareholders.
