harley riders....

where is the love, peeps? I wave at everyone (scooters and bicycles included) and pull over for anyone stranded on the road side (cagers, metrics, sportbikes, etc.). Last but not least, I have NEVER, EVER bashed anyone on a bike (and never will).

And as I have done for every Harley hatin/bashin thread, a pic of my cruiser (flame away gents!)

Ahhhhhh Kill it , Kill it with fire ! You should be either :spank: or :ban: for posting that pic here
:)

J/K
Is that the Tennessee Volunteer model ?
It is a very nice looking bike for sure .

Call me an old fool too . I still wave at them all and if they choose not to wave back I'm fine . In my 'yewt' I sometimes drove by in my car at broke down Harley riders and yelled
'You shoulda bought a Jap bike' but now same as you I'll stop and help out anyone even turtles :)

Blanca,
Most of the points raised in this thread are true about Harley riders..and the same can be said about sportbike owners too. Just grateful and glad to be riding, man!

I couldn't agree more . We are all part of the brotherhood against 'Granny' .
A Harley won't protect you anymore than a Busa will should a Town Car flatten you . I wave to an respect all who dare to ride down same road as a person with four hearing aids listening to Benny Goodman :)

I have gone 55...GPS-verified  Seriously, my bike is no longer fun past 90mph.
My point exactly. But, hey, cruisers are for cruising. I like my Busa precisely because I can use it to cruise or I can tear it up at 150mph.

Seriously though, a Harley is fun, it's nostalgic and as weird as it may seem to us techies, Harley sells more bikes than anyone else, so they must be doing something good for their shareholders.
HD might be the biggest brand in the USA, but certainly not elsewhere.
I think their domestic success is mostly down to them appealing to the American sense of patriotism.

Marlboro sells alot of cigarettes too and that doesn't make them good

Harley may not be the best but give credit where it is due. Their marketing department is 2nd to none!!

Have you ever seen a Ferrari commercial or Lamborghini one ???
Nope
Same reason you've never seen a Hayabusa commercial .
Things that sell themselves don't need advertisement .
Just saying

I agree but name one automotive company or bike company that has as successfully marketed a lifestyle to go along with their product as HD and made it accessible for as broad of a range of people.

Come to think of it, I think I have seen more ZX14 commercials than HD ones???

Schwinn !
Remember them banana seats ?
Everybody had one

I'm just fooling with you is all .
Kawi came close in the 70s and 80s with their 'Let the good times roll' campaign but your right HD does a good job

Couldn't disagree with you more Saiid. I don't know of any HD riders who spend as much time as running down Jap bikes as the people who ride Jap bikes, don't own HD's and have never ridden them do. I know I don't and personally it get's real tiresome and goes beyond the point of being funny. You want to know what gives sport bike riders a bad reputation...posts like I am seeing here.

Uh, Ducati? - They target the exact same crowd as HD, and get away with it.

EDIT: To be fair, their target demographic isn't quite the same as HD; I've never seen a White Supremacist gang riding Ducatis.

Don't see it. I may see a couple Ducs a year and do not remember seeing a single tshirt or logo on a vehicle for them especially by nonowners.
Their followers are loyal to a fault but not nearly as broad based as HD.

Dm I'm just joking and have not slammed or run down HD in any way .
Two reasons I don't own one :
1: Can't afford the one I would really buy and
2: I'm still a speed freak !
The minute , the very minute HD makes a real sportbike that will hang with a busa I'll be first in line I promise you that .
Having fun is all don't take it wrong

Hmmm....well, maybe it depends on where you live. I see a lot of them. - For sheer snobbery no-one outdoes Ducati owners, not even the most rabid HD fan can compete with them. I've seen them sneering at Jap bikes that are twice as fast and ten times more reliable.
The most down-to-earth riding group I know are the VFR guys. (Probably because they're nearly all old dudes.)
