Hayabusa fuel problems...i think....

Wiz...im gonna say this....come to lehigh valley and we will take our busas around some of these jughandles...i got some that will make u break ur engine down 2 first gear before u takem....when we finish we will talk about "wheel school" when u look at the 240lb guy on the busa in front of u with his calves scraping the ground ur gonna wonder why u been going to "wheel school"...but dont worry!!!!.....life experience is a better teacher and i got good news...the only way u pay for this schooling is with experience bumps and bruises if your fortunate!!!! Lol..leave them books alone and them xbox games...lol

hey Rossi, once again.... it could be as simple as your fuel pump screen. pull off the tank and pull apart the pump assembly. Check for debris anywhere. Mine would buck like a bronco at WOT above 8K when I first rode it.

Good lookin rush!! Friend of mine was tellin me it sounds like the fuel pump is going. I described to him that once i would get it past 70 or so ...i would start getting that stuttering and bucking...he says he has a tester that he uses on his gsxr 1000 08' that tells him the codes and exactly where the failure is. Id like to connect something to it to see whats wrong. That would save me time and money...but his bike is an 08 mine is an 02....what are u guys using to diagnose issues???

You can put the bike in dealer mode with a paper clip. Post number 2 in the thread below has the directions for doing this:

https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/busa-problems/113481-fi-codes.html

you mean when you have a choice of hitting the front or rear in surprise gravel (pa roads anyway), you choose the front?

When braking is necessary (emergency or otherwise) and you are leaned over in a corner, you apply the front brake? This stands the bike straight up in the air!

I never understood not using the rear brake at all..maybe not much..but some.

I removed my rear pads and removed all the hydraulic fluid from rear. I NEVER have used rear brakes on anything except a dirt bike.

You live in louisiana. I live in pa, where it is not unlikely to find yourself on a 1300cc "dirtbike." :rulez:

Finally an ally..lol....wow i was beginning to think no one actually rode busas hard in here..bigfoot just restored my faith in u guys....hey fellaz i been talking to a guy close by for the past 6 months about swapping down to the 750...im getting close to pullin the trigger. I live for the cornering...my m109 has so much balls the busa is becoming obscelete i swear it. Put alot of time in on the busa but it may be time to move on...will u guys kick me off the org if i let it go?????...

Wassup fellas...i filled up after the paint work..so theres no telling if it was the paint or the fill..up then i went and got some redline and poured it in hoping to cleanse the system. What i did wrong was instead of letting that half of tank burn out i filled up with premium thinking the bad gas would burn out...but that was probably a bad move. Either way its full now took off the tre..wasnt that...checked the plugs..wasnt that...checked hoses things look like they are supposed to look under the tank....heres a couple pics before i slapped the decals on. Ill try to snap a few more...as u can see i didnt put front fender on yet....i wanna cut it a little closer so im still seeing how i wanna do it..

man it really sound like you have a sensor going bad on you. You may wana lift your tank up and the bracket it pivots on has a sensor on the bottom side that has a little ball to shut the bike off in case it is laid over. just make sure the sensor is still hanging up in the right position and not just dangling around. this would cause you fi light to come on and your fuel to just shut off at random times.

Hey nick.. Thanx man....i appreciate that...im gonna try it..my job been kickin my a$$ so ive only been able to take bits and pieces of you guys advice and apply it little by little. The tank is drained im gonna throw some plus in 2morrow then im gonna take my favorite member rashad (aka perry the platipus) advice and tackle the fuel pump and screen...hopefully hes right. But that paper clip trick is dope...im very interested in trying it...

Really?????....damn now thats why i joined the org....holy shyt...i would have never checked that...did that happen to you...and u say this sensor is on the hinge?????

Rashad there are a couple different fuel pumps on the gen 1 busas. Theres an external and internal version...to be honest i havent even located the pump yet...i looked at a few diagrams and i dont see it...i put a half tank in this morning. Ran the old gas out yesterday...so in the morn i will try to run it on rt 22 if the weather permits...ill keep u posted

that sensor is not as common as the fuel pump or screen getting clogged.

-perry.
actually a guy is supposed to come and pick the busa up 2morrow man...im hoping its right by then..he wants to ride it home..5 years ive owned it and im letting her go...if she doesnt run right in the morn that means she doesnt wanna leave me...lol..this guys bringing me an 05 gixxer...i been wantin a 750 for a long while..to track it. If i miss the busa ill just grab a new one. Im letting all the new busa owners get the kinks out first...lol

well yours is internal since its a 2002 correct? Look up the fuel pump microfiche on ronayers.com for your bike and it should show you how to pull it apart..

It wont be difficult once you get in there and just clean everything really good.

yes 2002...and I think u are right cuz when I lift up the tank I believe I see the bottom of the fuel pump...meaning the rest is out of sight inside the tank...ive been efficient pretty fard in disecting things..this may be a little more involved....what are the visual signs of bad pump or filter Perry???

well, if you hear the pump whine when you turn the key, im assuming its ok somewhat...but if you see gunk in there anywhere just clean it out and see if that helps. You gotta pull it apart.

Ill do u one better...u come to the track and hand me the whooping urself...bring ur title with u...hahahahahahahahaha....

Let us know how bad you get whooped on the track without using your back brake.

One thing I learned when I first because a member of internet forums...

If you want the free advice and HONEST advice of knowledgeable brothers, DO NOT come to the table with a sword. Come with your sword in the sheath and your ears OPEN.

Humble yourself. I looked past it and still tried to help you for FREE even though you kept going. Who cares how you ride, we tried to tell you to clean the powdercoat off your rear brake out of sincerity. If you do not want to and disagree with those you ask advice of DO NOT come back just let it roll of your shoulders and take the good with the bad.

If you behave your questions will be answered.
