What I really wonder is........how many of the guys who are upset that the Busa isn't a HUGE margin faster than the liter bikes now really twist there Busa's throttle and wind it up.
A ten year old big bore bike is gonna feel a little slow nowadays granted...although get on a stock ZX-11 and say it feels slow...slower maybe...but not slow
wink.gif

But those bikes put out 126 hp stock. The new big bores put out around 160 give or take and are incredibly ridiculously fast. We're talking eat up pavement, crazy fast in just a couple gears, go to jail, lose control ect fast. A Busa stock has more power than you can use in traffic...you have to find a nice deserted back road to have any fun unless you want to go to jail cause' you opened it up in 1st & 2nd from a stoplight
wow.gif
or having 75 mph traffic "standing" in your way before you can get your "top of 2nd gear" jollies.
So I think the only real reasons with todays big bore bikes to need a newer one is stricly the ego thing...power (for most folks) is no longer a valid reason imho. Unless of course you are an on track racer and need every edge you can get...which I doubt the majority of riders are. And if you do start to crave a bit more of that holy sh*t!! feeling all you do is add the ole' sprockets, pipe and pc, or turbo ect and there you go

Well said...

Welcome Daddy, don't forget once u were young!

Sure you will find here many reasons to buy it inmediatly.

Regards from Spain.

P.D. Tonight i will be late, dont wait for me in the living room please....

hold the phone, pappa!!!!!! At 48, I consider myself just now emotionally stable enough to own the busa and can drag knees with most of the 20 somethings around here just fine. The busa is a wonderful machine that any experienced rider will love. As mentioned above, I think you will find the average age of the typical busa owner to be a bit older anyway. However, as with any high performance machine, keeping in great shape makes the busa even more fun. This thing has become my passion and this board is alot of fun. Welcome, old man!!!!!! getitgetitgetitgetit....

OK board you are all great and every time I log on here its like reading an encyclopedia the knowledge on this piece of machinery is just incredible, I'm 44 and have been riding for quiet some time, when I started riding in the mid 70's it was all about the ride, friendship and individuality, it really never mattered what the hell you were riding, in every generation we are expose to something that just blows our mines away, fortunatly this time around a very beautiful, unique thing has brought all types of generation to one place, I don't want to sound like I'm preachin but every time I look, touch, sit or ride my Busa it remind's me of those early days, the bike scene has change since those days and now folks worry about having the baddest, fastest and latest bike around, we are part of a very small group of men and women that have one thing in common we love bikes and we are lucky to own a Hayabusa, so please don't get caught up in the I have to have the newest Busa or what ever other bike that is coming out, with today's technology there will always be something better or fastest coming, remember half of this love for two wheels is the rider, the time we spend with family and friends and just plain living and enjoying life, as incredible as the bike is today there will be a time where it too will be a thing of the past, but I believe it will always be remember as one of the baddest bikes ever built and maybe there will  be a lot of us still around with our old Busa's showing and sharing the good and bad time stories and experiences we had with the Bird, I wonder sometimes what else can a manufactor come out with that could be better but no time to duel on that cause we know soon or later it will come.

Youd be surprised at the ages in here. Much higer averge than i thought. Im 44 and pondered a long while desiding if i needed a bike. The day my dad went in for a 6 way bypass i realized there wasnt and endless supply of years left tat i may want to do the things I do now. That day I bought my 1st bike since 1982... my 04 blk/blu busa and I love it !

Papa,,,,,,I just went from a GL1800A to a Hayabuse LE two months ago...and WOW!!! I'm 57 and not looking back....What a rush!!!
It's taken these past two months to adjust to the differences but geez what FUN!!! I've made a couple minor mods for more of a "sport touring" feel but I guess some habits are hard to break. "Try it, you'll like it". I'm "SURE" you remember that line...lol

Hey papagoldwing, I wish you were old enough to be my daddy but I was 52 on my last birthday. I've had a busa for a couple of years now and love it. I even used it for keith code's bike school this previous July at mid ohio. My only advise is if you get one watch it every time you go out you have to speed with it because it's so much fun.

Board Members:I've been reading your board for a couple of months after finding your link on the Pashnit.com website.
I'm 48 years old and probably old enough to be a Dad to most of you.  I currently ride a GL1800 Honda Goldwing. I bought the bike new and have ridden 32,000 miles in a little over two years.  I do all of my bikes maintenence and look forward to working on my first Hayabusa in the near future.

I live in KY and have ridden Deals Gap "Dragon" many times and the Cherohollow Skyway . My second bike was a 1998 Honda CBR600. I sold the bike after losing my "career job" with the same company after 17 years.

I'm busting a gut to buy Hayabusa.  Trying to hold out and see what the 2006 Monster is all about.

This is a great website.  Please be kind and gentle when an old man ask stupid questions.  Remember "You'll be old someday too."

I gotta go with everyone else on the "why wait theroy" All You do is lose a Year of riding to find out that they maybe did or didn't do something differant. It's not like a bike putting down 160RWHP is going to be imeaditily obsolete. As far as the liters go Who gives a poop. My kids Gixxer 1K is just as quick as My busa and right there on top end but I'm giving up 200 lBS (between bike and Me) to him. I'm one hell of alot more comfortable on My Busa than I would be on the Gixxer. It's apples and oranges.

Welcome.....this "old guy" at 39 still feels like a giddy teenager every time I twist the right wrist.....so what if the '06 is different.....you'll love a 99-04 just as much!

Have to agree with the age thing, but one of my favorites was between Cook Neilsen and Phil Shilling when they were building the "California Hot Rod"

" If Not Now, Then When?"

A phrase that can be used an awfull lot, but hey, if you want it, and can afford it, pick a color, and go for it!

Welcome aboard..................
Sellin' the 'Wing?

Tell me more about your sport touring mods.  What are some creature comforts you can add for long distance riding.

Besides the weight and speed variables between the Wing and Busa what are some other discoveries you have uncovered.

As for the age thing, most of the regular members here are 30 + and the target market for Busa owners from Suzuki is 35+ range. Most of the "kids" 25 and under go for 600's and sometimes 1K's ... losers! We have some very, very fast riders here that are over 50. You know the adage your as young as you feel... I say "as you act!"  I surf, ride a busa, act stupid ... just looped my baby a month ago doin wheelies and might I add I am 44

Thanks for the replies and words of encouragment.  "Christmas is just around the corner".
Yup What he said...  But as you've no doubt noticed...  Age doesn't= Maturity....  Hell just cause they keep adding years to me doesn't mean I have to grow up...

Welcome to the board though man, good to see another old fart around here to keep the other old farts company...

Welcome aboard papagoldwing

You're only as old as you feel. I'm 39 and loving every minute of it. The Busa is an awesome machine, but coming from a GL1800, you're going to miss a few things at first...like storage space
laugh.gif
I've still got my touring bike, so I just choose the bike based on the trip.

Good Luck with your purchase, and ride safe

As to your reason for waiting for the '06 model, my general rule is never to buy the 1st production year of a new model. Let others work out the bugs. Using that logic, I'd wait for the '07, but then you'd have to wait even longer! Go ahead and get your 'Busa now. You won regret it!

BTW, I turn 50 in less than two months.
