Hayabusa WantaBee

I sold my Wing to buy an 05 Busa. I am 44 and have some back problems that made me question whether I should try the bike I had been wanting since 1999. The sad fact is that we are not getting any younger. I finally decided to make the purchase while I am still able to enjoy riding the thing. I would suggest you do the same. I also refuse to "grow up".

Get the busa life is to short and tomorrow is never gauranteed.
I just got back into biking after a 12 year absence. I wish I could have those years back. I'm 37 now and loving the busa.

Two months ago, I too was going to wait until next year. Then one day I saw a beautiful red '04 at a local dealer and I said f**k it, I'm not waiting. Best decision I could have made. Now I'm thinking, why do I need or want any other bikes,...well maybe a second, turbo Busa.

What I really wonder is........how many of the guys who are upset that the Busa isn't a HUGE margin faster than the liter bikes now really twist there Busa's throttle and wind it up.
A ten year old big bore bike is gonna feel a little slow nowadays granted...although get on a stock ZX-11 and say it feels slow...slower maybe...but not slow

But those bikes put out 126 hp stock. The new big bores put out around 160 give or take and are incredibly ridiculously fast. We're talking eat up pavement, crazy fast in just a couple gears, go to jail, lose control ect fast. A Busa stock has more power than you can use in traffic...you have to find a nice deserted back road to have any fun unless you want to go to jail cause' you opened it up in 1st & 2nd from a stoplight

or having 75 mph traffic "standing" in your way before you can get your "top of 2nd gear" jollies.
So I think the only real reasons with todays big bore bikes to need a newer one is stricly the ego thing...power (for most folks) is no longer a valid reason imho. Unless of course you are an on track racer and need every edge you can get...which I doubt the majority of riders are. And if you do start to crave a bit more of that holy sh*t!! feeling all you do is add the ole' sprockets, pipe and pc, or turbo ect and there you go

Well said...

Thanks BT.......by the way, how is your 160 horse pocket rocket in traffic?....a handful I would assume?......lol. I have yet to master rodding the Busa in any kinda traffic...stuff just comes up too quick and room disappears too fast. The woes of owning a modern superbike eh?

I know some folks here don't like the 04 red.....but I have never owned anything in my life that gets the kind of attention it gets. In fact sometimes (when its parked) I wish it got a little less

I think it and the black LE are the 2 best lookers imho. But I'm into solid colors. I'd like to see a nice electric blue or yellow 05 LE...something solid, sharp and eye-catching.

Tell me more about your sport touring mods.  What are some creature comforts you can add for long distance riding.

Besides the weight and speed variables between the Wing and Busa what are some other discoveries you have uncovered.

First off, Welcome to the board.

I got my Busa about 6 months ago after selling my VFR. I have no regrets. The Busa is a great bike. Torque, fairing protection, stability. There is alot of aftermarket available to do whatever you want. For sport touring duty there is options on seating, windsceens, throttle locks and maybe a TURBO if its not fast enough.

Just buy one, you will love it!

One of the most entertaining things about the busa is the HUGE aftermarket. Pretty much if you can think of it, you can find someone making it...

More comfort? heli-bars and Corbin. More power? (Undless list of stuff) Chrome parts etc..... On and on...

Thanks for all of the welcomes and replys. I can tell this is going to be a great board. I'm talking to Santa "Wife" and we shall see what Santa brings down the Chimney.

What are the major changes for the 05's over the 04's besides the clear lenses in the turn signals.

Somebody else correct me if I'm wrong, but only differences are paint, clear signals, and an automatic swith that shuts off the headlight during start up to save on the battery.

I'm 51 and love the busa. I think about it constantly even when I'm not riding it.There's nothing like the thrill it gives when you crack the throttle.....and hitting the twisties with all that power beneath you......WOW! Just ride it once and you're hooked......what an addiction! Who knows....maybe the beast will help me stay younger and live longer......

Pipefighter is right, there is nothing major found on the 05 models.

Here are a few pics of the 05 models taken today at the SF motorcycle show.

Thanks for the great pics. The Red/Black one is hurting me really bad. "I LOVE ATTENTION"
