Heat questions

My bike virtually runs at 2 needle widths below 1/2 all the time. Unless stopped, it never creeps up higher. And, at a stop, it can sit for a several minutes before creeping up. I checked the fan and it comes on at the 1/2 mark. My question... about every 5 minutes or so while riding, even with temp well below 1/2, I get a pretty good blast of hot air on my left leg. I'm assuming the fan isn't on because I'm well below 1/2 on the temp gauge. What is this blast of hot air? Is it the thermastat opening to let a new batch of hot water into the radiator? Any suggestions on how to mod the thermastat for to reduce this?

Thanks!

I was waiting for a newer busa owner to ask this question since its gettign hot out.. Your radiator tank (overflow whatever) is located on that side.. all the busas get hot on that side. its somethin u gotta live with. dont worry about it.

It's just breathing, don't worry. It is like Hell letting off a little steam, lol.

Since i switch to ti full sys the heat issue on my lower legs
seems to go away.no ice coolant or header wrap.

I cannot explain why, but, since installing the Smart TRE the heat is down like 40%. I've ridden the bike hard and in hot situations but it's just staying much cooler. Used to be that a 15 minute run at 80+ mph, stop/starts, etc. and the bike would be huffin' and puffin' hot air. That's largely gone now.

What up with this???

Most likey just breaking it in a little. The TRE has nothing to do wit cooling, unth than it will REV a little hgher nad lower (cluthch in and out)
