the heli-bars were a great addition to my bike. i also did not have to cut any wires. i bought my brake lines in preperation for the heli bars. did them at the same time. i reused my stock grips as well.
took an hour to install my helibars. stock cables/grips worked fine. small direction towards better comfort. with my better shield and pegs, I can go all day....
You could, but the switch housings on each bar have a plastic pin in them for alignment. You could break the pin off and still keep the switch housings tight with the screws in them, but you would lose a little hand clearance at the tank at full lock with the Heli-bars rotated back that far.
I really like my Heli-bars and .75" risers, but I think a new top clamp and dirtbike style bars are in my future.
