K8 Heli-Bar install

Thanks Warchild

Now, where did you get your Footpeg Lowering brackets?
Here I sorta cheated.... these are the exact, same Footpeg Lowering Brackets I used on my Blackbird, and that are an exact fit on the Hayabusa. These brackets lower your footpeg a good 1-1/16", and places them outboard approx 0.4"..... doesn't sound like a lot, but makes a huge, HUGE improvement for my aging knees....

I have to do something with my pegs. After about an hour I can barely get my right leg down... My right hip is killin me.

Does your buddy machine these for resale? If you need to keep this out of the forum, PM me.

Warchild,
I went to the California Sport Touring website and they don't have the BMW Sport Grips. Any other idea about where to get them?
BTW: Thanks for the install instructions, mine are done and it was as easy as you said.

Hey, sorry for the rookie question, what is the advantage of those bars, are they larger than the stock ones or what?

Thx

Not really negative, just different. with the change the angle that you apply pressure to the bars for counter steering is different, slow speed it is much different due your different position. Went out for a few hours today and there is a huge difference in sitting position. Of course I put on some free gel grips and they suck, but the bars are great.

Very nice pictures and write-up.  I've done this using Gen 1 helibars.  The rise, pullback, and width are identical, so I just measured carefully to drill new control pin locating holes.  After wasting 10 minutes double checking to make sure I was right on, I found that the holes needed to be drilled exactly 180 degrees out from Gen 1 position, so I drilled right through the existing hole and out the other side. Gen 1's are black powdercoated steel, though.  +1 on mirror extensions, you need them after this mod.  I would be interested in the peg extenders used here.  Looks like they allow use of any std peg.  I have the Buell's and they don't match the rears.  With my knees, I'd couldn't ride a busa more than a few miles without lowering the pegs somehow. BTW, I used genmars and helibars on my Gen 1, it looks a little tight to use that combo on this bike, so I'd like to see a pic from anyone who is using a spacer too.  I did have a dbl bbl screen on my Gen 1 and it hit at full lock

It's a little tricky but doable with a 3/4" Genmar. Can only be done with the stock brake line if you raise the forks, also. I lowered my rear 2" and was able to raise the forks 1" with this mod. You'd also need to make a simple bracket to relocate the brake line clamp on the bottom triple clamp. Good excuse to just buy some S.S. lines an inch longer. The key is to rotate the Heli-bar towards you as you tighten the bar clamps and then the brake master cylinder has to be rotated as far foward as it can go. The brake master cylinder cover just barely touches at full left lock with the Suzuki D.B. and clears fine with the stock windscreen or the Puig Z.

Hello all, I wish I knew about this board years ago.... Does any one know where I can get the bracket above? Thanks...
