Helmet Hook

Looking good on that hook design. Can't wait to get a couple installed. Plus you're making a threaded insert long enough and small enough that it will fit right across the tube.

You can get that M4 hardware through the remote control car vendors. That's where I got a bunch of M3 and M4 hardware for attaching secondary fans to GEN one owners bikes. Short to long they've got it all.

Crazy thing, I have a factory helmet hook on my gen 2 and have never hung a helmet on it...

Until I read this thread, I never knew how important it appears to be to people...

Don't get me wrong, I'm jealous of the mileage as I broke 1000s... But helmet hook what? lol

PETG is not as easy to get dialed in as I hoped. Getting there though.

So this helmet hook has payed off already. Rode the bike all last weekend and looking back I used it at every stop I made. BIG FUGG you to the clowns in ZUKE land that left them off.

I’ve used mine as well and friends are like “wait, what? No more carrying the helmet!?” I’m like “nah fam, join a forum, get frens, get ideas, make ‘em work, helmet hook!” Lol

Shoei X-14, Cardo, relocation kit, 45mm JBLs is over $1000. Can’t take chances with leaving it on the bike unsecured, not that I leave the cargo on it but still…

It's a necessity in my book for sure. While if I'm gone for any extended periods longer than grabbing lunch, it goes on the future hook. I ride alot to work so just don't like the idea of leaving my helmet in the sun all day so it comes inside.

I never could have trust in throwing it on the tank, off the mirror, off the passenger peg. Helmet is my main lifeline and I treat it as such.

I haven't even tried PETG since last time. We've had beautiful weather for the past week and I can't keep myself inside long enough to tinker with settings when I could be outside. Will this weekend at latest.

I get that....I recall seeing some very expensive helmets sitting on or near bikes with nobody around...someone with low morals and ethics could grab them and be gone pretty quickly...

I used to use the helmet lock on my other bikes fairly often but found myself taking my helmet with me when out on my Hayabusa rather than using the factory helmet hook....(don't know why).

A few years ago I read where a person in Toronto On. was going around and filling helmets up with shaving cream when she found them on a bike and nobody was around-apparently this lady had some sort of hate on for motorcyclists..

Well the nephew hooked it up! (See what I did there?). He got 5 printed off in PETG for me lastnight thanks to Infinites help! Gonna try and find that insert today and see what we have. Stay tuned!

So got it mounted up using just the screw that came out of that location. After looking into that location and it being plastic I’m not sure I want to chance altering how the tail is somewhat held together. May look into a longer screw just to take up the extra space in the material but it’s pretty solid!!
I’ve got some extras too!

I definitely agree with you, I feel it's pretty stout using the stock screw. Find a little longer one with a smaller head and may fit as is. If not, we can modify that section to fit a screw if that's the way you're attaching. I think it may be plenty good without the threaded inserts though. My caution the filament failing.

I had a couple in PLA I just added a coat of epoxy to yesterday and will hang outside with some weight.

Are you willing to email the STL or open file for the hook?
