Welcome! I have a 02' as well! As for problems hit the search engine! There's a wealth of information out there. As for tires I went with a Shinko's. I put a 200 on the rear! As for a TRE I have a GIpro that has a gear indicator attached! Hope this helps!! Welcome!!!

If you don't want to shell out $200-300 for a new underatil I would recommend the Clear Alternatives Integrated tail light, as others have. It was pretty easy to install...once I figured out the easy method. You don't even have to remove the tail fairing only the hump/seat and the stock red plastic covering and you can get it for around $85-90.

I went w/ the Crystal Clear Integrated myself and kept the annoying faster blink rate by not using the resistors for more eye catching ability from the cagers. Everyone I've ridden w/ has told me it is easy to see even in the daylight.
