No do it once off . it will lightly smoke light a diesel does but won't lower the octane. I run a 98 octane fuel

Running a lower octane fuel i.e. 91 or whatever you have will cause pinging , depending on quality of fuel , Suzuki recommend using a high octane fuel

I posted a reply for a similar problem, my 2008 (just bought it 1 month ago) had a hesitation shifting from 1st to 2nd, only once, tested it on the freeway & I couldn't get it pass 6,500 rpm, thought it had a rev limiter, wrong! So I took off my fuel pump to see what was going on, didn't expect fuel filter to be completely clogged, picture on left, right one is new. Test rode it, heavy traffic but hit @ least 9,000 rpm & still pulling. Problem resolved, however, yours maybe different, just thought I would put my 2 cent in. Previous owner didn't do much maintenance so I am fixing problems as I find them. Ride safe & Aloha.
