How\'s your MPG???

Need a reality check on the MPG as I'm getting 47.8 around town. Of course, that's 80 to 90 MPH around town. I'm running Yoshi R-3 carbon's with no dial-in and the Busa' running great plus the big jump in MPG. Anyone out there experiencing the same or is the computer off?

There's nothing wrong with your computer.

You're just not putting the hammer down enough.

With practise, you can get your fuel efficiency down to 18 miles per gallon or less.

I've actually managed better then 50mpg (it won't display above that) on the freeway. Starting having fun with the throttle and it goes to very low forties. That's better freeway mpg then my bandit 400!

I'm usually in the low 40's with my worst mpg in the high 30's no matter how fast I go.
I do try to keep the rpm low/use higher gears when I'm cruising at a steady pace.

I get 35 MPG / tank around town, 41 or so on a tankfull with a lot of highway miles.

I don't think I'm even _close_ to as hard riding as some of my fellow Hayabusers.

:)

Yeah, sure you can see 50 MPG on the display for a few moments while you're riding down a hill, but I'm talking about the average for a tankfull.

i hear that MOPEDS get really high mileage
i rode with a dude (once)that was interested in
mondo mpg........BORING!!! LOL

I think the display always reads a few mpg high. I typically get 45 actual mpg and the display reads around 50. I don't ride hard and my bike is bone stock.

Hi everyone.

When i was touring Norway this summer i had a beautiful babe and saddlebags to carry and still managed a 4.7 litres/100 km, that's 50 mpg, avrage (we were in no hurry).

No matter how I ride, my display is always around 11mpl which is about 48mpg.
In the US does your display quote mpg or mpl ???

I generally get between 33 and 40 MPG. I spend a lot of time on I-4 to and from work, with the occasional jaunt into mid tripple digits.

I've never been close to 50 MPG. Do you have the aftermarket pedal kit?

I usually use between 15 – 17 km/l. My driving varies a lot. On freeway’s, my average speed is 160 km/h. In the city, it will drop to 12 – 13 km/l. I once tried riding at 120 km/h, for about 50 km. 22 km/l, that’s god but boring.

I average anywhere from 37 to 41 depending on how I'm driving. Since the breakin period ended over a thousand miles ago, I've noticed the mileage dropping, but that's me getting it to speed in a timely manner, hehe.

Last evening I took my wife out for a drive through the mountains. We went about 75 miles and afterwards, when I checked the MPG (just filled up before heading out) I found I got 48.0. That was with two hard starts near the end too . . . goes to show what one can get if they ride at the speed limit or slightly above.

These was moderately curvy roads too, so I didn't even expect that kind of mileage. I shifted a bit, but always kept it in the higher gears. Didn't want to get tooooo much bug splatter you know . . . :)

If my wife rides with me, I get around 44...solo, I float around 33-37. I tend to lay on the throttle and (try to ) impress the local floral (chicks!) with a wheelie or two or three.

Ok. Confused is the word I'm using now. I don't ride that hard but a lot is around town and I get around 35mpg (best case) but that's an Imperial Gallon (4.546litres). That means I'm only getting maximum 28USmpg without using anything like max power (normally not above 4-5000rpm in the lower gears).

The Busa computer must be measuring mileage against that as I find it impossible to believe that anyone could get 45 miles to a US gallon which would be equivelent to 54 miles to an imperial gallon. (divide your USmpg by .8327 to get imperial).

There is just too much power in a big engine for that sort of consumption and it also means my bike has a serious fuel greed problem.

Just before anyone shoots me down here I'm not in any way calling anyone a liar in case you're touchy. I just want to know why my consumption is so f**king bad if the computer is using US gallons to measure over there.

Cruising easy on the highway I get around 50 mpg. Regular city driving is in the high 30s. Worst I got was at the track where it was in the high 20s.

50mpg? Then that would suggest that the computer is definitely measuring in Imperial gallons (4.546 litres) even in the US market.
