How\'s your MPG???

Between 40 and 50, usually around 41,42, mostly long twisty country roads.

I switch octanes almost every time. I don't know whats better, I never hear any pinging.

At the track, I always zero the trip meter so I know how many miles I've done during the whole event. This gives me fuel mileage whether I want it or not.

I get between 16-18 mpg on a long fast track, and 20-22 on a short, technical track.

So constant full throttle use cuts my mileage roughly in half compared to street riding.

The Busa sucks gas like a toilet when you wail it.

I have no idea if the computer is right but---I have never regestered below 42 and the average is usually aroung 45-46. Even during mountain riding, 42 was the lowest.

I check my mpg when I fill the tank. Miles traveled since last fillup divided by gallons put in. I rarely look at the computer. Usually get around 45 mpg. I'm in sixth most of the time. Interestingly the R1 got about he same mpg. Must be the new metalurgy technologies.

To get great mileage one has to have serious control. I figure on the trip I got good mileage on, I averaged 55 to 70 for speed, and there were few stops I had to deal with.

Meanwhile, even if I drive carefully in the city, the mileage averages in the mid/high 30s in no time.

Anyone not getting close to 50 MPG with nearly all 'highway' time and going under 75 (yeah, I know . . . harder than hell to do for a long time) might either have something sucking away their fuel efficiency or maybe the system isn't calculating correctly. I've watched the calculation for gallons/miles covered as well, and the numbers match quite well. I don't expect perfection. There' no guarantee I'll put in the exact amount each time.

No modifications were done to my bike. The slightest bit of road romping though can seriously deflate those mileage numbers.

I've talked to the Suzuki Reps in Brea, CA about the computer; there's a European liter model and the USA one for measuring in gallons. It seems some of us have got the wrong computer for our location. (Referring to the US rider with his computer in liters.) Maybe Suzuki will give you a new black box? I get 37 to 50 MPG in general usage, and run the best gas I can find here, Mobil 92 octane.
