How To Know If It's Time To Move On? Hayabusa.org

Checked my old R 1 forum and it too is linked to FagBook for log ins.

I don't really understand the technical or financial side with the FB tie in.

I was on this forum in 02 and came back about 5 years ago when I got another Hayabusa .

Always a wealth of good info that would cost a fortune diagnostically if you had to go and pay someone for servicing .

I think that is true of most bike forums .

It is a challenge these days to figure out how to monetize anything on the internet to keep it viable.

I hope that if nothing else the posts will be stored somewhere for people who need help.

GrapeApe Newman let our west coast forum die ~ yet continues to support Facebook with their site . . .

Cap, could the org be "for sale?" What would it cost to take it over, assume the ownership, etc?

Any chance of hanging in there for another 18 months?

If Suzuki manages to win the market back with a Gen III, the way they did it with the first Busa launch, we may find a new crowd joining here. The other question could be that if the interest here has dwindled to a point where it is no longer viable, will the Hayabusa survive?

Something I have noticed among the quality competitive cycling (bicycle training and racing) forums, are the founders selling out to some of the big retailers. They keep things rolling as an add on business cost, but get a good return on investment with traffic.

Other forums keep going and just reduce band-width and cost with much lower traffic and almost no maintenance. Some of the founders are not willing to hand their creation to someone else.

I don't have "The Facebooks".......

What am I gonna Do!?!?!?!?:banghead:

Me neither, no social media, and don't want it.
I'm on a couple of other non bike forums for info, but this is really the only place online I come to(other than email, ebay, or online part shopping).
I like the public discussion of like minded people, haters, trolls and all.

This is not what I wanted to read today. I haven't been around here as long as some, but long enough to have seen a lot of things good and bad. Cap you have given people a gathering place and a reason to join the family here for a very long time and you are to be commended for it. Full respect for your decision.

No way! I would be so in the dark without this site. Everything I need to know about my busa now and in the future is here. I spend a lot more time on my zx-14 site but that is -----I can't really explain it but I guess it was my first bike so I feel closer to it? The busa is a better bike and I know it so I need this site.

Just wait, cap. Give it a year or two. When Suzuki makes the new busa, there will be flood of enthusiasm the bike world has never seen. It almost makes waiting worth it. LOL I'll still be asking questions about my Gen2 then!

I was originally directed to the oRg. by TwoToneVert, from the KatRiders forum, after getting my 2007 Busa! This site has been great for me!! The conversations and knowledge of the members have been priceless. I have been a member of at least 3 other Busa forums, but the oRg. is the one I've stuck with! Honestly, as mentioned above, I too would entertain the idea of a monthly membership fee!

an idea here... why not try to create a social media like interface... come up with a cost estimate and all of us that feel that this site is important can see what we can do.... I know that I feel that this site is invaluable.... I KNOW I'm not alone... id kick in a couple hundred bucks... we already know that one place on facebook has success relating to the hayabusa... lets not do this.... there is money out there... and a little involvement on members parts can go along way.... there has got to be a way.... there has got to be a gen3 coming....

and I used this site for years before I actually joined.... and with the younger crowd... a couple nice lookin females on bikes wouldn't hurt anything and might give a nice boost..... who knows.... I know that always motivates me.

get a half naked female on a stretched busa immediately and see if it has an effect... don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Everyone is talking like this is a done deal. Is the org going away for sure now? Charge a membership fee. I'll pay. hundred bucks/year? No insult intended, a hundred / year isn't much but I'm already on a low budget.

No one can speak for the Captain, and as he posted, he has family issues now, and will get back to us.
If it's not certain, it seems to be looking that way.
But, we wait and hope, and if the Captain is ready to hang it up, we hope that somehow he would allow others to take over.
Not speculating.
Time will tell.

T-Shirts .........

I need a Dozen for myself and will take another Gross ( 144 ) to peddle thru the year.

Wow! The content on this site motivated me to sign up to my first forum ever. This place has just so much info and I keep it open on my phone and spend hours (not exaggerating) a day on here just reading info. And posting. I can only imagine the amount of time that takes to run a forum and understand Cap. Has other priorities too.

Looks like the forum is slowing down leading to multiple posts. I hope that's not a sign.

I have no idea what it takes to keep a forum running. The site appears to have sponsors. I'm sure they need to be kept happy but other than that, what does it really take? Read every post and make sure nobody uses abusive language? Somebody would do that. I'd do at least a part of it. Otherwise, let anyone say whatever they want and charge a membership fee to cover costs. ZX-14ninjaforums has been running for years and although I know he puts some of his own financial resources into it, I don't think the admin even visits the forum except once or twice/year to post some announcement. People fight, make controversial and sometimes offensive remarks and everyone just lets it blow over. I guess if it bothers you, you don't visit the site.
