How...

I didn't buy the busa to go 180mph and do twisties with my knees scraping the pavement... just as a normal thing to ride, so I'm not going to wear gear all the time. I might buy some, though... but I wouldn't wear it all the time (just a helmet). My first busa ride WILL be tomorrow morning when I pick it up unless it's raining. I didn't go pick it up tonight because the rain/lightning.

On Saturday night, expect lots of photos and my "story" about my first experience riding a busa...
I have been noticing a pattern with this thread that there is always a reason for not getting your Busa.... maybe you are not meant to have one?

PaNDeM1C,
I have tried really hard to keep quiet and not respond to some of the thing that you are saying, but I cannot do it anymore. If this offends you then I apologize in advance.

You are the type of person that owns a motorcycle that gives all of us a bad reputation. You are the one that causes our insurance to go thru the roof. It is people like you that make LEO look around every time a bike hits 6000rpms. I personally have over 20 years riding experience. There are people here that have me beat by more than double.

Does that mean we are experts, no? You asked a "Squid" question and so you get answers that suit the question. If you want to ride w/o gear, then knock yourself out. You are the one that is going to have to explain to the important people in your life way you are all scarred up.

There are two types of people that ride motorcycles. Those of us that have been down and those of us that have not been down...............YET!!!!

It is going to happen to everyone at one time or another, even if it is just dropping the bike in the garage. Most accidents happen w/i a 5-mile radius of one's home (cages and cars alike).

Anyway, what I have said is not going to do anymore good that anything else that anyone else has said. I wish you luck, but make sure you post many pictures of your bike so that when I see you, I can get off the road and out of your way.

USN, I agree whole heartedly, I still have my reservations on if he actually owns one.... will be the first to apologize if he can post pics but he has supposed to be getting it for a couple of weeks now... check did not clear, deal almost fell through, bad weather,.... etc....

It's only been a week. But... it feels longer than that.

Barring rain, death riding home, my camera mysteriously breaks, or if I oversleep and unable to get the bike before I have to be at work... I'll have pics sometime tomorrow night after work.

Hey, PaN...welcome aboard...
biggrin.gif

I've read all this threads...you are right about your riding style and concerns, study on your routes and so, on...but, on the gear parts? we just worry about it, thats all... no one, wants to loose you, and when you hop on the beast...you will be realized why everyone was putting up the "Big Red Flag" on it...(infact, just because of that reason, I don't ride much in middle of the summer...)
I rather drive my cage, than torturing myself in the heat...other than the group ride or event I like my cage...or unusual cool evening? I'll ride some...
BTW, BBkiller, is way cool guy...pull out his posts and check it out...
through, funny jokes time to time...to cool off everyones stress...helping other new guys questions...etc.
just because, he put some pic like that on there...doesn't mean to offend you...don't get too serious about it...and, you will start like this site...again, welcome aboard...

I don't get offended easily. And honestly, nobody has offended me here at all. I can understand people's opinions about gear. I could have lied and just said I'm super-experienced and always wear gear... but I didn't. I hope I get some respect for at least telling the truth.

And, yeah, I couldn't imagine wearing full gear in the middle of summer... that would be too f73king hot!

I think the mod bug might hit me... if so, I'd get an undertail and some kind of framesliders put on. I'm no mechanic, so I'd get the local dealer to do that crap for me.

My 2 cents - wear gear. It was 90° the other day and I still wear my leather jacket, full-faced helmet shield down, and gloves although I wear the fingerless kind. You can wash sweat off but you can't wash off road rash or broken bones...F*#k practical. Many times life itself isn't practical. You put pant's on everyday to leave the house right? Make it a habit to grab your gear.

good luck bro and be careful when u r riding. If u do go down close to Chicago IL I mayby there to pick u up on the Ambulance. Ive seen so much road rash I cant even remember them all. Im probaly crazy in your eyes but I were everything even armor under my pants but when u have seen people screaming in pain from road rash it kinda changes u. Its your choice though im just so sick of hearing about bad wrecks that could have been so much better if gear was worn. Take care and again good luck.

If I'm going to ride my bike up the the mall to see a movie, I am not going to show up at the box office wearing full motorcycle armored pants and jacket in the middle of summer... I'm sorry. I'm just not going to do that.

If I go down and I'm in jeans and a t-shirt, it will hurt even worse... sure. I hope people here can at least see that I fully understand all of your thoughts about wearing full gear all the time.

I talk someone else into it. Tires aint cheap.
