2007 F250 King Ranch, 6.0L Turbo Diesel. I am replacing the fuel filters and I already have the engine bay filter replaced. I am working on the frame rail filter. How long does thing drain? I have already dumped one catch pan and working on another. Help!

Is the key in the off position? I have a 6.4 but that dosen't sound right.

I know the styling and interior changed from 06, but I think they are mechanically the same. 06 is the latest I've done, and I'm a former Ford tech. It will drain a while, I'de just take it off completely and quickly and put the new one on.

I am NOT a tech but I also do the same thing above for my 2 Ford Trucks (both F-150). Open the gas cap to "depressurize", crawl under with the fuel flter tool and GIT R DONE!

I wouldn't consider myself a tech or anything but, I can't imagine gas coming out like that to be normal (right?). Is it just slowly flowing out? The most amount of gas I've ever seen when changing a fuel filter was from the filter itself. The lines themselves had very little coming out of them. Pretty interested in reading what the problem is, if any.

Wish I could, but if I take the drain plug out quickly, lots of fuel comes out, not sure how fast I could get the new filter back in. Need to psych myself up for this one!

It is out of the ignition, does that count?

Heah, I know that sounds silly, but sometimes people try to listen to the raido while doing that not knowing or thinking it keeps the fule pump running.

How big is a normal oil drain pan, I have dumped two and still have fuel coming out. Not like its on, just draining out in a stream.

It's just that Diesels usually operate at a higher fuel pressure than gas engines, and if I recall right, that's a pretty big filter, right? Unless you have some major problem, it's not going to continue to pump fuel.

It's the pressure in the system keeping the fuel coming. Kinda the same thing as cyphoning gas.

The system is still pressurized, sorry to state the obvious, and it shouldn't be. Save yourself the trouble, put the new one on quick.

How do I do that? I also have to replace the rubber o ring on the cap. Sure wished ford would have moved this thing about 3 feet back. :banghead:

+1 on just put the new one on quick. Last week I took my 6.4 in for an oil change and they sugested a new fuel filter ,so i let them replace both. Somehow they got air in the system and I spent the next two hours waiting for them to get it purged.

Call me bro...I have a '06. Need some details on what you did so far.
