It's the pressure in the system keeping the fuel coming. Kinda the same thing as cyphoning gas.

It's gonna keep coming now for the above reason. You'll just have to get some fuel on you and switch it. I can't remember, but there should be somewhere on the fuel rail to relive the fuel pressure. But it's open now and doesn't matter.

With the key off and the system opened when he changed the other filter...there is no more line pressure.

The fuel tank and lines out of it are higher than the filter on the frame, as said, same principle as cyphoning gas. It's gonna keep coming. If the pressure is relived at a higher point, it won't continue to drain.
If I'm too far off, I'm sorry, it's been a few years since I've worked on one of those.

Ok, I will be danged if I ever do that again. Pulled the cap off and fuel runs down the frame rails, all over me, the floor, etc. Nice mess to clean up. I guess next time I will let ford do it. I have it out of the garage and running, will let her idle for a few minutes while I clean up my mess. For those of you who didnt know, the busa rear axle castle nut tool is perfect fit in that tiny little area and just right for the cap on that filter. Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. Whats also funny is I didnt even get one response in 2 hours on the diesel forum.

If he's still leaking fuel tomorrow I vote we change his screen name to British Petroleum.

Well thats not nice! I am about to blast it to see if we can cap it that way. My robotic arm is broken down.

I am guessing it is changed by now. The fuel was pulling from the tank. Best way to change them is to raise the rear end a little. Once you have the cover off, get it done right away, and yes it is a PITA to do. New service bulletin, they only need changing every 25,000 miles.

ask casperle he (i belive) works in a ford dealership as mechanic

i know im a day late but the nut is 36mm and you should have just changed it as quick as possible thats what i do at work
