I'm gonna pick one up in the next day or 2...i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with one of the Joe Rockets. I think they look pretty cool and they're not 2 pricy. i'll try to keep it on when the weather gets up to 90+...hopefully that'll be soon.

i was cruisin sat through some twisties when a friend followin me lost it. he was alright but his bike slammed into a sharp turn sign(how ironic?). it was 80 deg and he was wearing a riding jacket that pretty much saved his skin. myself...i was wearing a t-shirt

2 sum it up...i want a jacket...but dont wanna burn up. that's why i wasnt wearing my leather jacket. any suggestions on something that looks cool and'll keep me cool? saw some kind of mesh crap w/pads at the dealer for $100.  it didnt go with my busa and looked like a welfare jacket.

I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix.  It's not the newest version, but it serves the purpose.  Has elbow, shoulder and spine pads.  It actually provides more sacral protection than my two leathers.  I'd go to Ebay and search for Joe Rocket Phoenix and see if you like the pics.  I feel you on the T-shirt thing.  We in the U.S. need to get over our ego and start protecting our skin/muscle/bone.  Happy shopping and let me know how things turn out.

I've got the Joe Rocket 2.0 I paid about $70 last year it's great very cool but I like the 3.0 cause it's got more padding.

FirstGear Mesh Tex jackets. Come in more sizes then does Joe Rocket. It's good quality jacket. Coming off winter gear last few days wearing the Mesh tex seems kinda skimpy. But it's regularly over 100 degrees out this way. It's as cool or as warm as what your wearing underneath it. Wear a T-Shirt temp wise that's how it feels. Bump padding Arms, Elbows, Shoulders and neck. Option to put a back protector internaly. Can only guess how crashing wearing one would be. The protection pads would hold in place, not slip to the side. The Mesh would hold up on a pass on the asphalt but not prolonged scraps.
Also for Hot Summer Mesh Joe Rocket Pants. Liked the padding around the hips better then Firstgear. Simlar mesh type as FirstGear with same cooling. Just wear over regular pants. Heheh although known some who wear bathing suit or just underwear underneath.
No experience with perforated Leather or vented jackets. Have seen some symptoms of Heat prostration by leather suit wearers.
Riding in a furnace even when the wind doesn't cool. Can only see the mesh to keep up with it.

PERFORATED LEATHER!!!!!!! And always pack a lightweight rain suit if you get caught in a downpoor.

All-mesh is cheesy and can't possibly be as safe as leather (but better than nothing). But again the Reactor has the best of both worlds for summer city riding when you don't want to wear a full leather suit.

And for the record I lowsided in jeans doing around 50 and slid for 20 or 30 feet - the jeans were shredded but my skin was ok - probabaly because the wear was not in one spot. I was very lucky. God help me if I was only wearing shorts like some teenage idots I see. However I was not wearing a jacket at all and paid the price - ground my elbow to the bone slammed into my shoulder also - but again I was lucky. NEVER AGAIN! WEAR LEATHER!!!!

Leather is costly but skin grafts cost way more and hurt for much much longer!!

Have a Joe Rocket 3.0. Love it. Comes with great padding and a rain liner. Paied 139 for it. The Field Shear is also a nice jacket.

picked up a joe rocket pheonix 3.0 today after work...silver & black. matches the bike & feels real good.cant wait 2 try it out tomorrow. it really turns the wife on, might have 2 wear it to bed 2night. i'll post a pic as soon as i can figure out why my digital camera aint workin.
