80 in 3rd??? not in a race with a 12....he did just what he shoulda done. disappeared on the horizon!I was going about 80 on 3rd and I punched, he look at me like OK, and suddently that thing was gone.

The Busa and 12R are very very close in performance in stock trim... piped vs piped the 12R actually makes around 5-10rwhp over the Busa... so through the gears, a piped 12R will pull on a Busa. Gearing is always a big factor as well, if he went down 1 tooth in the front he'd be pulling you like a freight train for sure.. but with that gearing he's limited to about 182mph at revlimiter in 6th...(actual GPS speed... not indicated speedo speeds which are optimistic).
There's no shame in losing to a 12R... They are very close in performance and it almost always ends up being the rider that makes the difference with equal mods. Believe it or not... The Hayabusa isn't the "decimate all" type of bike it's been hyped up to be. It's a phenominal bike... but not THAT fast to where nothing should be able to beat it.
If you're racing magazines... the Busa will always win. If you're racing in the REAL WORLD... you'll see that the 0.04 second advantage that SPORTRIDER mag said the busa has over the 12r...means absolutely ####.
I've got a ZX12R... completely untouched motor... makes 176+rwhp SAE on a dj250 with just a pipe, pc, air filters... Busa's with the same mods on the same dyno make around 168rwhp SAE. 175-180rwhp is the norm for a 12r with a pipe just like 167-170rwhp is the norm for a Busa with a pipe.
With my 12R I've beaten more Busa's than I've lost to...by far.... not that the Busa's are slow, it's just that the 12R is equally as fast if not a notch faster piped vs piped. I believe SPORTRIDER mag did a test on this piped vs piped matchup with the Busa and ZX... The ZX went 2+mph faster than the Busa with equal mods done to both bikes. Same day, Same time, Same rider, Same mods, Same conditions.
The most imporant aspect of making sure you've got a fast bike is TUNING. Throw the bike on the dyno and get it mapped properly.
Oh, here's a little treat for all you non believers...
My 12R vs Busa.... same mods.... 1 mile run.. even start from a roll (so the rider has little influence).

NOT THIS AGAIN!!! dude didn't your modded 12 lose to a bone stock Busa? Once again shows the machine doesn;t make the race huh?The Busa and 12R are very very close in performance in stock trim... piped vs piped the 12R actually makes around 5-10rwhp over the Busa... so through the gears, a piped 12R will pull on a Busa. If he's geared down, then he will lose some top end, just as you would. Depending on how far down you two go on gearing, then you won't go much over 180mph. I'm thinking that you need to really check your technique. Are you guys running from a dead start or roll-on?If I change the gearing 16/42 I can hang with him for a while, but what about over 180, I'm telling you that #### moves fast and hard.
Finally!! The voice of reason...a stock bore and cam ZX12 does not make 186 HP that has a 1290 kit in it
So you can all blow me.
did you even read my postI don't know who this people is racing. I let one "experience" rider use my bike against the 12, he did worst than me. He race twice, same results, he went home and pick up he's bike, and guess what, he got spanked too. I maybe young but I'm not blind, those things well tuned are fast and until I don't see it I can't believe that a pipe Busa will beat a pipe 12.
And don't even thing about top end , you will be dissapointed.
I learned the hard way.
motor or Turbo you decide. NOS the bottle runs out, the other two are always ready. email me with what you needWhat's next? Nitrous or Turbo? I like the idea of having 20 or 30 extra hp on demand.
