Idea to fix Speedo error?

all manufacturers cars/bike have optimistic speedos, stops silly law suits dropping onto manufacturers laps

IDK how that would be because a sending unit is a sending unit, but Hallelujah if that's the case. I ran a speedo healer on my Gen 1 bikes, and it worked great. Not available for Gen3.

Odometer and a speedo stepper motor are 2 entirely different things. Think about your gauges sweeping to 185 mph every time you power the gauges up, this doesn't get counted as any distance. The dash is performing 2 different things based upon 1 input. Speed square wave signal in, odometer out, and speedo out.

If I get time this weekend ill prove the theory.

Now on a gen3 (not possible on gen1 or gen2), I can make my odometer not increase at all when running 185 mph for hours at a time, and I can make the odometer act like I am going 200 mph when the speedo shows 1 mph.

Unplug your front wheel speed sensor and go riding. The tachometer works, speedometer and odometer don’t. I have done this and you can do the same thing to prove it to yourself.

Sorry I was busy working and want to elaborate on my comment. What I said was meant to illustrate that the two outputs (speedometer and odometer) are a result of one input (front wheel speed sensor).

Everything Greg said makes sense to me.

If you look in the service manual on page 9C-14 this is supported by Suzuki saying if the speedometer or odometer don’t work to check the front wheel speed sensor.
