This RTShadow dude obviously has a hard on for motorcyclists.

I didn't read through the entire thread, it is old. but basic description, I guess he made a trip to California and some biker pulled up between him and another car and took off real fast when the light turned green and he got his feelings hurt or something.

He was the guy that started to jump in on the original thread and was slamming bikers and I was in the middle of replying to when the thread got whacked..

Exactly my point Fate.. I wasnt BS'ing the guy when I said allot of bikers carry..

And the ones that do carry will usually not think twice about defending themselves against a car..

People trying to use their car to run ANYONE off the road, bike or car really need to think about who they might be running off.

I usually am carrying on my bike and my car, as I said. I wont go looking for trouble, but if trouble comes looking for me I am usually more than prepared to deal with it..

And you have to be, it is just the world we live in..

Actually I am ok with the guy now, looked at his profile, he is 21.

not saying anything negative about 21 year olds, but I am 44 and some 21 year olds just have some learning to do

I know when I was 21 I made a lot of mistakes and made stupid choices and said stupid things I am glad no one stomped my head into the ground for it..

He seemed from his additional posts that he got the hint, and that is all I wanted from the guy. just for him to look at the larger picture and I think he got it.

Still, there does seem to be a few members on that board that just dont like motorcyclists. I think I can almost grasp that in my mind, but not totally.

I have been riding for over 20 years so it has been so much a part of my life I have a hard time grasping why cagers have such issues with bikes.

I do honestly believe alot of it is jealousy, I think when a cager is sitting in traffic, late for somewhere they have to be and see's a bike passing them, just kind of pisses them off, I cant see why else people would have such issues.

And this RTShadow dude, he seemed pissed because the bike that was sitting at a stop light took off fast when the light turned green.

Well I am assuming most riders do it for the same reason I take off fast in that situation, I am honestly trying to be consciously courteous of the cars.

My mind set is if I pull up between two cars at a light, if I dont take off fast I am possibly making them nervous, I figure if I take off fast and get out of their way then I am not impacting them in anyway.

And splitting lanes inst about riding next to two cars, it is about passing them and getting out of there way.

This is where I think a big problem is, most cagers don't know why some bikers do what we do, when sometimes, or even often there is a reason for it.

Not justifying all the idiot bikers out there. and not justifying some of the more stupid things I have done.. but ....

No lie... I read this post last night and on my lunch break today im coming flying up on a white jetta who puts on his left turn signal to scare me... 2- lane straight highway i was in the 150 range... It made me think of this post soon as I passed him... I went from scared ...to ok ..to pissed ..to keeping the speed down till It was time to go home....

fat kids in jettas trying to regulate speed limits...

Other than that van full of punks going over a mountain road a few years back, I don't really have anybody that screws with me on the road. Guess I am just lucky.. (knock on wood)

heehee. I posted on that thread too. Board seems to have mostly good people but the "i hate bike" hemriods there are so much fun to put down with truthfull insight.

Truth is we're all gonna run into idiots like this and in alot of cases worse. Just know your self defense laws if whatever situation does come to a stop. Otherwise Just be proactive and expect the worse from all drivers. I don't waste time much with kicking doors or ball bearings through the windsheild anymore. Worst thing you could do to them is shake your head as you speed away from them leaving them to sit there in their slow ass cage with their anger eating away at their lifespan. If they are dumb enough to try chasing ya then it'll be their accident or encounter with a cop to deal with. Just make sure your far away from them when it happens which isn't hard to do with bikes like ours.

You most likely would have made it past him no matter how hard he slung his car in your direction. Some freinds of mine have found riding with thier headlights off can be safer believe it or not when zipping on the highway. It's just wise to treat all cages like they don't see ya coming anyways and be prepared to act if they do something foolish. Anyone who wants to mess with bikes usually only notice you by your headlight when coming up from behind.

I am usually pretty good at determining drivers intentions. I can usually tell if someone sees me, if they plan to mess with me etc.

And usually when I go by cars I give as wide a berth as possible.
