Insurance cost

Shop around extensively is my advice. There are so many variables, your zip code, your record, the number of vehicles insured, the length of time you’ve had insurance already, etc etc. I’ve been with Nationwide for decades so my costs are about as good as they get. Good luck in the hunt. BTW, why are you going for an 18? It’s ten years newer but hardly different from the 08.

I know but the local dealer has a couple 18s and they are on sale for 10k brand new.

What's up y'all. Just sold my 08 Busa and am looking at buying a 2018. My only issue is insurance rates. I have a clean record and am 41 years old. The best rate I could find for my 08 was $1200 a year for full coverage. I've had R1s in the past and they usually ran around 6-800 a year. Have y'all found any better pricing ? Thanks. Picture is the 08 I sold.

Bike was a 2011 that I paid $8000 for. Screwed up my first post ! Ha

Yeah I agree with this. If it was 10k for a brand new one id go snag one up today. I'm sure OTD will be like 13-14k easy.

My OTD was 12.9 but that was with military incentives and loyalty as I bought 3 bikes from that shop within 6 months. The dealer explained the hidden “fees” for listing price vs 10k and 12k and I found it to be true when I call all of those places. The one with 10.299$ listing price said their OTD was 12.5k before taxes and title.

37 bucks a month for full coverage on my B King and Sportster through Allstate, I've bundle the House and 7 other car's too so maybe they cut me a break ?

You Can buy a new 17, 18, Busa out the door, as in, out the door...total for under $11k in Va and NC

Insurance companies try to screw me every time, and for no reason. I hate them all.
I've owned a B-King, and it was cheaper to insure than my gen2 Busa, as the B-King is Not considered a sport bike, or a sport touring bike like the Busa.
Same for the Harley.
They are both cheap because of what they are, not sportbikes.

AllState are also bastards.
Quoted me $2300 for a 2012 gsxr1k.
Then told me sorry, it would be alot more, as they see my wife(who doesn't drive the bike)had a 9 mph over ticket a couple years ago. Wtf!?
And, for the record, I'm 41, married, motorcycle license, Class A cdl, no tickets/accidents/claims in around 16 years, great credit, perfect insurance credit score(based on claims and tickets), and AllState insures our house and cars.
We live in an area with a very low crime rate too.
Everywhere I try gives me the same ridiculous bs quotes. Yet I know people with tickets who pay almost nothing.
Makes no sense at all, and none of them can give me a reason for it.
So good luck to anyone else getting ****ed by insurance companies.

My 18 ZX14r cost have of what my 18 Busa costs. I talked to my insurance agent and she said that there are more claims on the Busa. They have been around for two decades and they are very popular. There are a lot of Busa's on the road so it make sense there are more claims. Kinda sucks though.

You mean (after) taxes and title right?

I mean before. As in, I drive a few states away, buy it for 12.5k and have to register it in my state and register my own title. I said fudge that and just bought my 2018 literally a block down from my house. HE gave me a really nice alphinestar jacket, boots and some gear.

I called Nationwide this morning to insure the new Z900RS and despite having a multi vehicle policy with them for twenty years with no claims, they wanted to charge me $1,600+ per year for full coverage! They said it’s not me, it’s the reported claims for that model bike. The Hayabusa was around $300+ and I’m told there are less claims for that bike and that’s why it’s lower. Really? Is everyone crashing their Kawasakis? So, I’m glad I didn’t finance it requiring me to have full coverage so I’m going with the minimum required liability for $205 per year for both bikes (and) I’m going insurance shopping. I’m with you sixpack, they’re all CROOKS!

That’s ridiculous!!! How can the kawi be 5 times the cost of the busa to insure?!!!!

A few examples of prices a few years ago FZ1 2011 new model considered hypersport 1500 a year , but 2012 FJR1300 was 765 a year . I bought the FJR . 5 years later the same FJR is 265 a year full coverage .
My 2014 hayabusa was 1380 a year full coverage first two years . I dropped full coverage to liability / Theft / and Fire . Now 600 a year . However Geico lets me add full coverage , and remove when I want so when I took the 9 day 3500 mile trip I put it all on , and it cost $50 extra for 9 days .
We were going to buy my wife a new FZ7 or FZ9 , and both were more than the Hayabusa for full coverage .
Number of claims we were told . I'm 45 clean records M stamp for 27 years , Wife M stamp , and CDL .
For grins I pulled a quote using a different county in Texas to see how much living in the 2nd most populated one was affecting rates . It was different but not a huge change . Not quite 200 in savings .
Funny a new SV650 competition to FZ7 was only 500 a year for full coverage ( 2017 model ) when priced a few years ago .

Our total year premium with Geico for 3 bikes is 800.85 2009 yamaha T max , 2000 Bandit 600 , 2014 Hayabusa

CBX someone is trying to screw you.

Yep, don’t understand it myself so I’ll be shopping. I think I’ll call Nationwide again for another quote in addition to other companies. California or not, the premiums shouldn’t be that high. (I’m) the rider, not one of the 17year olds that crash on their parents policy.
