I just did the insurance thing and the cheapest that I had found for the 750 was Allstate at just under $950 a year.
This thread is priceless!
Thanks to this thread I started shopping around for my 09 busa. I was quoted almost 4000 dollars a year for full coverage of like 25/50/25 with a 1000 dollar deductible but I couldn't justify that. I'm 28, no accidents, no tickets, took a MSF course in the last 2 years. I ended up going with progressive with liability and comprehensive so I could be covered if the bike is stolen. For those coverages I'm paying a 1000 bucks a year.
I called State Farm and I got full coverage for my motorcycle at 50/100/50 with uninsured motorist for 50/100 and I now pay 1272 a year. So I pay a little bit more but have a whole lot more coverage. I'm very happy about this because I hate not having full coverage on my stuff.
State Farm here, too! I have a great rate, too! However, I have two cars and my home covered with State Farm, also. All the folks with State Farm, do you have other vehicles, house, etc. with State Farm? From my understanding, State Farm has great motorcycle insurance rates, possibly the best, but you cannot get motorcycle insurance with State Farm unless you have other coverages with State Farm. In other words, you cannot just go into State Farm to insure only your motorcycle. Can anyone else verify this before we get everyone excited about State Farm's rates?
Thanks for the warning. I did go back and check my policy and it does have Liability, comprehensive, and collision listed for coverages so I believe I am okay. I only have state farm for my motorcycle insurance but they seem to be a good company so far.Is everyone on here that has state farm 100% Positive they have FULL coverage, i am talking comp, collision and liability. Here is why I ask, I had State farm "Full Coverage" on a 2006 Hayabusa (my insurance cards looked the same as the others for my other vehicles) I then went to sell the bike and actually read my policy paperwork and found that I had no collision, I have been with this agent for more than 5 yrs at the time and thought I could trust him (last time i will ever not read any documents before i sign). I called my agent and asked why he didn't take the hint that i wanted the same coverage as my other cars and boat when i asked for full coverage. His response was state farm's definition of full coverage on a motorcycle is Liability and comprehensive NOT collision. He went on to say that state farm does NOT issue collision policies on motorcycles. I also ask because i met a fellow rider in the State of FL who was in a motorcycle accident and the person who hit him fled the scene, so he called his State farm (he asked for full coverage as well, and had a car and boat insured through them too) agent and said I need to make a claim and the next day he received a phone call from an adjuster saying "sorry no collision coverage, have a nice day". Has anyone else looked into this or ran into this problem?
With a stipulation.....the motorcycle CANNOT be your only means of transportation. They do not insure riders who do not own another mode of transportation. You CAN get coverage from State Farm without anything else. Had ONLY my bike covered with them until I got my new truck.
