Is this the attitude of the members?

ALRIGHT I'VE BEEN UP SINCE 1:45A. SO BEAR WITH ME...IF I GET OFF TRACK.

I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE CAN DICTATE HOW, WHEN, OR WHY YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY. I THINK CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM & FRESH IDEAS ARE GREAT!!!!! KEEP EM COMING.

BUT THAT DOESN'T GIVE ANYONE THE RIGHT. TO DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS ON THIS SITE OR HOW IT'S RUN. UNLESS YOUR FOOTING THE BILL FOR IT. IT'S REALLY SAD THESE DAYS: THAT PEOPLE WANT TO TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE.

GET A GRIP. LIFE IS WAY TOO PRECIOUS. SO INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING ABOUT WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS OR ISN'T DOING THAT YOU DON'T LIKE. LOCK IT UP!! FOCUS ON YOUR LIFE. AND YOU'LL BE LIVING A MUCH FULLER & HAPPIER LIFE. AND ALLOW THEM TO DO THE SAME.

I APOLOGIZE, BUT THIS IS JUST PATHETIC. IS THERE NOTHING IMPORTANT GOING ON IN YOUR OWN LIFE. YOU FEEL THE NEED TO CONDEMN SOMEONE ELSE. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! THE MAN PUTS UP THIS SITE, TO BENEFIT EVERY BIKER WHO GOT SWEPT AWAY-THE FIRST TIME THEY RODE A BUSA. AND WITH HIS OWN MONEY, GIVES US A LIBRARY OF CONGRESS CONTAINING ALL THE KNOWLEDGE YOU'LL EVER NEED ABOUT THE HAYABUSA. BUT INSTEAD OF THANKING HIM. WE CONDEMN HIM?? FOR WHAT...ATTENTION??

I SIGNED UP ON THE AUCTION SITE. GAVE MY PERSONAL INFO, JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. NOT GONNA LIE, I DON'T FULLY UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS. BUT BEEN TOO BUSY TO STUMBLE THROUGH IT. YEAH IT MAYBE, A NERVOUS OR UNEASY EXPERIENCE THE FIRST TIME. WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. BUT THIS TO SHALL PASS.

AS FAR AS PERSONAL INFO...AS LONG MY INFO ISN'T OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. WHOOPTIE DOO.

CAP...IF YOU EVER MAKE IT DOWN TO NC. GIVE ME A HOLLA. DINNER'S ON ME.

I don't come to this site expecting it to be here everyday, though I'd miss it more than any other site if it wasn't here next week.  I think the auction section is an excellent idea and I'll try to use it next time I have something worth while to sell.

However, I think having more regular raffle items could help out too. For example, there always is pretty steady demand for exhaust systems since this typically is one of the first after market items on a busa owner's shopping list.  The proceeds from just one each month could put a dent in the wan expense.  And then there are all those cool windscreens that get folks' attention. If this could be done without poaching sales from the sponsors then I think it would be good for the site. Just my $.025

captain it is your board , run it like you want , it does not matter what anyone thinks about how you run it. i am all for a income to help you with this board such as the auction sight. the american dream is to get wealthy. the reason i say that is again it does not matter if you make 1 dollar or 1 million dollars. it is non of our business of what your income is from the board. you do not have to justify nothing with no one here. i have been here for a short time, but long enough to know there are some great people here that do not think like that.

(Gunnybusa @ Oct. 18 2006,17:56) I’m good with it how it is. So I guess I'll be the only one here when he takes all of his busa friends.
You won't be alone. It will be at least the 2 of us

Cap, it's your site, so run it the way YOU want. I, and I'm sure many other members, thank you for this great place, and when I read things like this, I'm stunned. And it has the opposite effect on me--I want to donate again, to express my gratitude. So expect a little something more this weekend, and keep up the GREAT work.

I love the site. Keep up the good work. You can never please everyone. Thanks for all that you do. You go to a lot of work for my viewing pleasure.

Obviously, anyone who would write such a message has never met Doug (aka Captain) in person. He gives the world this board for free, and someone is complaining about him being greedy because they can't make money off his board without paying a nominal fee. Some people have alot of nerve. BTW, compare the fees from the auction site to eBay and you'll see what a bargan selling here is.

I have been consumed by other things recently and haven't even checked out the auction site, but I find it hard to imagine that anyone would think it was a profit making venture. Many times over the past 3 years I have been a member I have seen Doug go through the dilemma of keeping the site up, selling it or just letting it go and every time he has chosen to keep it! If you've checked out some of the other forums you will notice a big difference in the air over here. That has to do with the vision that Cap has the members understanding and playing by the rules. Be adult about things, form your opinion and decide if you can live with how things are. If you don't like what you're watching change the channel!

Personally i realy don't care if Cap made money, off of this site! It's his site, period! The auction section is a good thing, ebay charges more to list things, and ide rather offer anything i have to sell to the members of this board first!

Cap keep up the good work!!!

*heavy sigh*

I get tired of reading miscellaneous threads about someone complaining about XYZ or 123.

There are two options:
[*] Use the auction site
[*] Don't use the uction site

Bottom line:
If you want to buy, sell, or trade goods you have to use the auction site.

What's so difficult about that!?

Those are the rules.  If you don't like them, leave.  You're not paying for membership here.  Quit whenever you like.

To Cap and Mods:

Thank you for putting up with all of the (insert profanity) that you put up with.  I know I see a miniscule amount of mess compared to you so thank you.

Thank you for providing this place.
Thank you for your long sleepless hours day after day keeping this place up and running.
Thank you for investing so much money to keep us up and running.
Thank you for dealing w/ the same mess day in and day out and not quitting.
Thank you for not saying (insert profanity) and shutting down the site when someone jumps on that last nerve.
Thank you for continuing to create ways to generate money to keep us up and running.
Thank you for not making this a pay site.
Thank you for the auction site.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Thank you to the members that make this a great place to congregate.

I know sometimes this is a thankless job so seriously, Thank You!

I don't even own my Busa anymore and I am still here lurking around and reading threads. I 've met some cool people here and get a kick out of what others post. I think you are doing a GREAT job Captain. It's gotta take alot of your time and money to keep things going. Hell with the few that try to bring the place down. There are more of us that like it then dislike it!

I dig it the way it is. It takes quit a bit of work to run a site. More time than anything. Some people don't understand that. If they don't like it move on. that's my motto.....

good job cap'n

CAp, If you STARTED to turn a profit of $500 a month right now, How long would it take for you to BREAK EVEN for the past 7 Years!?! No reply necessary as ANYONE with 1/2 a brain will get my point. The individual questioning your integrity motives and financial responsibility needs to leave. Sounds like a 12 year old that is mad because mommy wouldn't let him steal money from her purse to buy a twizzle stick. I mean my Gosh, How many Hundreds and hundreds of dollars have I saved from theinformation on this board? How many times has that $50 hayabusa manual been downloaded?
I'm gettin a little mad here so I'm gonna shut up before I break the rules. See you on the auction site!

Like most of the prior posters, I came here for insight, knowledge, and some good jokes once in a while.  I am pretty much hooked on the Busa and have met some good, no, great folks here. This shiat ain't cheap. Space costs money. I have saved enough money from learning others mistakes to donate to help keep it all alive. I have donated. I have given to charity and been taken for a ride. Through NO fault of anyone but the one is question. After I learned of the theft by the azzhat, and commitment of Doug to keep the .Org alive, I faithfully donated again. And again. And will continue to donate and be involved in raffles and such.
I had an idea to sell a product that many have bought. I did not do so to make money. Trust me, there are much easier ways. I did so to get myself a free shirt made and help CAp keep the roof on the house. The shirts are now on the auction site. Why? So that I can profit? So that CAp can retire? Nope, because I know this site doesn't exist for free and it is more gratifying, and easier, to purchase something and at the same time make a donation to a worthy cause. I don't know Cap, no one questioned why I was charging the donation fee. No one bitched about it.  And, as far as I know, everyone was satisfied in the end. The .Org got some donations, members got some decent shirts, and I felt good about doing a miniscule job to help out.
So BF deal if a few can't deal with helping out the cause. I'd rather buy something and know I'm getting it as promised than have to deal with the BS of not knowing what shape it's really in, or even if it exists.
I am using the auction site not as an auction, but in the same fashion as the For Sale section. Is that wrong? It's actually less $$ for the .Org with the fees than what I was charging for the donation.
So what the hell am I saying after all this? Damned if I know. I think the auction site is a great idea. I have no idea what it costs for this stuff. I'm sure my estimates would be low. I do know that the money I saved far out weighs the cost of a few bucks to buy or sell something at the auction site, or a donation.
Fug the few with no clue. Peace of mind is well worth the few dollars!

Anyone like Cap who can look at the amazing amount of people that have congregated here and still say "this board will not have a membership fee, no matter what it's not going to happen," obviously isn't in this to make money for himself. That's the bottom line right there people.

If he wanted to make money he'd be charging us to use HIS board. Personally I think I'd be ok with a membership fee because I feel the information available on the site is worth much more than a few bucks a month, but I understand where he's coming from and that's not the kind of board he wants to run.

And on that note, anyone who's given so much out of his own pocket just to create this community deserves to make a buck or two here and there for his own efforts.

No matter what happens there are going to be people who complain, if they don't like it...well don't let the door hit you on the way out, because we don't want azz prints on our nice clean door.

I haven't been around for very long but I think the new auction site is a great idea and when I'm looking for mods and parts I definitely look there first. This winter when I get a few mods done I'll probably put my stock parts up for auction just to help out the site. Sure, I could sell them outright or just give them away but I'd like to pitch in (gotta get some donations in too, end of the month) and help out the site with some revenue. Good people paying good money to other good people, what's to complain about?
