The writer is definitely not aware of what it takes to do this thing everyday.

Like others have stated I agree with some things and don't agree with others.
To me, being consistent with the way this place is presented and the rules of this place enforced is the key element to comfort. Sure, I feel that things are a bit pure around here but the scale is heaviest on the side of good.

don't be silly cap...i'd NEVER come to any mans porch under duress or uninvited...matter fact?...the closest i'd ever get would be...well?...maybe that treeline...about 500 yards out.
waiting there...sun to my back...with the patience of an oyster....and i'd come to a mans porch only AFTER i was certain he was securely anchored and non-combative.
is it april yet?

I think about the way that this place is kept alive. Mostly, its done every month out of Cap's pocketbook.
If he were to factor in all of the man hours he and the faithful legion have invested on a regular basis, the costs would be astronomical when compared to the "petty" fees publicised now.

When ever you're dealing with the public you will always get complaints like that Cap. It's hard not to take it to heart.
When you look at the good of the org it far outweighs the comments from the whiners.
Look at the possitive side of things when you receive complaints that irk you.
If I don't like something I leave.

I had no idea it cost so much to keep the board up and running until it was mentioned a time or two. Why shouldn't people pitch in once in a while to help out if they can? What a great way to do it by selling something you don't need or want and have a miniscule amount go to helping defray some of your out of the pocket expenses?
No one is forced to sell on the auction site. They can sell it elsewhere and save a dollar or two and never help out to support such a great informative site. Gee what a tight azz!

don't know or care about how w list the items...just so that they can be made available to the other members.
this auction deal is just going to take some getting used to...some people do not like change.
........it's one section where "post ho's" have nothing to do.
there are those of us that donate 50.00~60.00 every couple of months above and beyond raffles..and will continue to do so because we understand what it takes.
others are just going to have to "suk-it-up"....and buy the heck out of everything offered as raffles. if the org can manage a raffle a week...and net nearly 200.00 each then that's a pretty fair bite out of the costs right there.
the biggest issue is staying on top of the raffles so that they don't sell out and the numbers get posted several days later.......gettem in - gettem out!
how about tiered accounts ..... haha!
donating members get to post pix.....non-donating are text only with no html coding allowed. hahahahaha
and if that isn't enuf...then do like my company and outsource your engineering (moderators) to places like turkey and mexico .....because they have never seen the hardware but because they'll do it for a block of cheese everyother week...then that saves $$$ ....even though the CEO still takes home his millions in bonuses...errr

Cap, I think you know how I feel on the topic. Appreciated the email you sent. As far as the auction site, again most know my thoughts on that also. The decals I have on there aren't making me a dime. At the price they are gonna sell at, after cost of material and fees I probably lose money. Dont really care because it helps my "Busa encyclopedia" and my wife kinda likes seeing her artwork on my "friends" bikes. So make sure you guys post some pix
1st off this isn't Sh. org where the owner is profiting from the website. There is no reason Captain (doug) should have to put dime one of his own money into this site. It would seem to me he does it purely to provide people with a place to gather and discuss their common interests.

Hey Cap and Mods. Once again thanks for what you do for all of us! Cap thanks for keeping this board up. Remember you can't make everyone happy. You have to do what is best for you, this is your board. You do not have to explain everything all of the time to us. Most of us understand what it takes and costs to run this place. To be honest I wouldn't do it. You are a special person. I know you lose money or it comes out of your pocket at the end of the month when it is not there. You decide how to run this site and just do it. Give us reasons or not but do what is best for you. You must be a great person to be friends with I tell you that. I didn't start this thread so that you guys could tell me how good I am (I know that sounds weird) but more of a sanity check.... I do this same thing with the mods all the time just to make sure that I am in check. I wanted to run this subject by the entire board because I want to make sure that I am always on point with the members and I have the pulse of the group. I know that we will always have some that just hate it (not too sure why they stick around) and I can deal with that. I just wanted to make sure that I havent been locked in a room so long that I lost focus of the group........ This place will be what you guys make it....

Hey guys, check this out. The CAp lets us run around his playground here (notice I said around and not amuck) and all he asks in return is that we don't go posting stuff our kids shouldn't see. Seems pretty fair. Now, and this is for everyone - so please listen up. I am not perfect, and to my knowledge, none of the other members here are either. However, the people that CAp has made MODS/Admins are for the most part pretty level headed. We don't arbitrarily delete threads or ban members. If something like that happens, THERE IS MORE TO THE STORY. Some of you would be amazed at how much discussion goes on between CAp and the other Admins about topics that flair up and members that get uppity. Catalog this under "There are two sides to every story". If something happens to a member and a story starts circulating about how screwed up the MODS are and how unfairly they treat the members, do us all a favor and ask us about it, rather than assume that you know how things went down. If some one asks me why I yanked one of Thrasher's Fluffy Bunny threads and he sends you a PM telling you how I disagree with Thrasher so I excercized my keyboard muscle and banned him... take a step back and ask yourself if that really sounds right. Ask yourself if the CAp or VaBusa or Thrasher, Revlis, Jester, the Prof, da' Bug, Ninja Eater, Kento, jwcfbd or I would do that without a reason. Most times when we do something, it comes with a pretty lengthy explaination of what is happening and why. The times that we don't explain oursleves a whole lot are usually the times when we are dealing with some sort of a repeat problem. Anyway, my rant is off. We are all members here, who come in search of knowledge, gouge and good humor - as well as friendships that span the fiber optic networks... I can honestly say, that I haven't yet met a member that I didn't like, and I haven't yet met all the members that I want to. There are a lot of sites on the net - many of us call this one our home. Thanks to all of you guys who make this the best place on the net.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I've been on the internet for 12-years and I've been a member, mod, admin or a visitor to hundreds of forums. This is the first forum that I've visited for this long on a daily basis. The wealth of information shared on this forum is absolutely mandates a price (ie: a membership fee). If I had found this board, and was given a 30-day free pass to look at what was here, and at the end of the 30-days was told I would have to pay a membership fee, I would have gladly paid. $5 or $10 a month, no problem.
This is by far one of the best managed forums on the Internet. And without a doubt the best Hayabusa forum. Just keep doing what you're doing, Doug.

Kidding......Cap, do what you need to do. Don't waste your time trying to make every freaking "individual" happy. Some people are never happy.
As for the auction site.. I have bought and sold on the new site already. It works great. I use it to support the site. I feel like we should all do our part to support the site monthly......
