K, first off im ive been in the navy for just 4 years now and bought my busa from pinching my pennies since i signed and sold my 600. Its not easy but you can do it. And for sure look up insurance! I'm 23 and the cheapest i can get is 560$ per MONTH. And I have no accidents and only one speeding ticket from years back. Granted liability only is much cheaper (80$ per month) but think hard before you go with that. I did.... and now two weeks ago i ran over a tree branch across the road in the middle of a lean. Not much anybody could of done and i just dropped 2k in parts and im doing the work myself. But the busa is a big thing, i was like you. I've wanted it since i was 17 and didnt find out about the pricy insurance until i was talking to the stearerships. Life sucks like that but its just choices. I dont regret a thing, since i've gotten mine ive had the best times of my life
aboardAs a first time rider I would suggest something less heavy with less power.

As far as the bike goes ?? You sound like one squared away cat, just ease into it and keep that high level of respect you have, you will be fine with the Busa...

Brian, i was in the same boat as you, except for being american,and going to the military. but i am 18 now, ive wanted a busa since i was like 13 and well the day finally came and i got one. the busa is my first bike and i got it before i had ever even ridden a bike. however, if you are responsible, you wont have any problems. like head east busa said; it doesnt matter if you are on a 600 or 1300, you can die just as easily if you be stupid. even though now you say you wont go 200 mph, i said the same thing, once you feel the power of the bike, its really hard to control the urge, i failed too. but if its truly what you want, whos to say you cant go get what you want most, if u get something smaller or even differant, and the only reason is because some people said a few things, you will probaly be disapointed. the busa is learnable on, its a puddy cat. either way, good luck with whatever you do!

Welcome and i think you will be OK on a Busa. You remind me of me when i was young. I have never drank done drugs and been in any major trouble either. However I have had some of the fastest cars out there. (pictures below) The power is there if you need it but you must first learn to respect it and it will be good to you. All anyone can tell you is to be ware be safe and never forget what you are sitting on. Good luck on your journey and thanks in advance for what you are about to do for our country.

The Busa as a 1st bike is doable,just have to give it some respect(and it doesn't hurt to have a little size in case you have to muscle it around a bit now and then).
As far as insurance goes,with your age they'll give it to you hard with no grease.Best bet(in my opinion anyway)would be to save up/pay cash and keep liability(that's all i've had since i bought mine new in '03,i pay $75 per year).
