Itch for a twin

Viol8r in 1967-8 I had a 1959 CH that I bought from a competitive flat tracker, ran for a while on local tracks and then converted to street use.

When I put it on the street I put ape hangers on it, a Harley specialty lighting system and nothing else.

Back then, all big bikes were twins, period.

I could hang with modified Bonnevilles, Nortons and BSAs in the lower gears.

But those other bikes never had the whore factor my little Harley did.

Kaw,
Right you are.
I'm tryin my best to find an RC51
not easy as you know, and to spend a lot
extra has limited appeal.
You know, I hate to beat this thread
to death but.... At the hospital, in the OR where
I work [MMC, Portland ME] there is a young
kid 18 or 19, who works as orderly.Nice kid,
into sport bikes, has an F4,we talk bikes
and I suspect he is bemused that an old
geezer such as myself is into sport bikes.
Talking to him last week I found out that
he had been clocked going 130 in a 40 zone, and is in BIG trouble with the legal
system[has gotten a lawyer etc.]I think there
is more to it than you play you pay...

If I were to get a twin as a second bike to the Hayabusa it would be the $6499 Kawasaki W650. The one that looks just like an old Triumph. I like real variety. To me a second bike that, for all practical purposes(no dry lake beds in Upstate NY), has the same performance as the H is not variety.

Pete, I was thinking about putting apes on a 96" fxr I'm rebuilding, but maybe I'll look at the little bike for that.
Also ground my foot pegs down(on the busa) and recovered them as per Ogres instruction. I've been riding without the rubbers on them for a while.

This year it was July 17 - July 25. That would probably be subject to a few days variance for the year 00.

My recollection was wrong about it being early July but hey...

I have spoken to my wife and it would be OK to have a few people in with Hayabusas...as long as they tell her she's beautiful several times a day.

Actually she runs a very effective support vehicle for track days. Ice, watermelon, grapes, water, ham & cheese sandwiches, umbrellas, gas, chairs, tools...

Just one last point with Konrad & KawAbuser (I'm feeling guilty about talking this subject on Jimjib's twins thread); you don't have to break any laws to ride hard on the street.

Just always use full power to get to the speed limit, and don't slow down for the corners :)

Not the most exciting way to go, but it'll help if you're in a town that's lousy with cops or if your licence is near suspension or if you're concerned about going down at high speeds.

And yes, if I didn't live in a place with so many balls-to-the-wall roads, I'd probably want a smaller, sharper-handling bike.

Because of a comment by Philo on another thread I'd like to clarify that I am NOT saying that I can ride the Busa to its full potential on the street or the track. I can't. I don't have the skill or the guts.

But I can ride it to MY full potential any time, and I do.

Pete does the amount of Beam injested affect your thresholds of speed?

If so, in a positive or negative way? :)

Don't worry Pete these threads have a way of straightening themselves out anyway.

Pete you have to consider a trip to New England in June for the Loudon Classic, I think you would find it amusing to say the least.
