The wheels on the tow unit have hydraulic brakes. Here's a pic where it appears that one sprung a leak and is being serviced.

That is a pretty cool idea. Not like they are going to be doing and long range touring on one, but I wonder what the extra weight is on that bike and how the stability is affected?
