Knock? (yes, i did a search)

2003 here with the same irritating noise. 10700 miles on the beast.
The bike pulls strong. It's my first Busa and I'm in love with it.

I almost got in a bit of trouble with the bike on my first ride. 6th gear at around 4000 - 4500 RPM is definitely not 55 - 60 MPH. It's closer to 100MPH. Lotsa fun.

I'm just a few miles down the road from you. I live in Lincolnton. I just moved from Evans.

I'm all for a Busa Gap trip. I'm not going to be able to make the gathering the board holds. I've got a few races to attend.

(BiG-T @ Jul. 10 2006,20:20) I heard the 06 LE's are being recalled so that I can have the only one.  You have to take it back and get the Cranberry.
Just try and take mine back. Good way to loose a arm or 2. A leg and maybe a life.

Now let me think. Let me keep my mod's and plastics. Give me a 07 or 08, my choice. I like that idea.
Spare plastic for a track day.

I have the same nocking noise, I only have 200 miles on my new 06. Only notice it when you blip it a bit from idle.

I have the same problem, try not to blip the throttle, if you are blipping, might as well be getting ready to haul azz at the light

, I have felt it knock and heard it only two times, only when i blip it though. I try not to do it.

OMG!!! This is an old thread!! jeeze, lol I am sure everything is good now...wow 6 months ago.

mine knocks, i can slightly hear it through my helmet and lightly feel it resonating on my knee when pressed against the tank. happens at idle at a light, otherwise runs like a bat outta hell.

i'm gonna check if it disapears when i let out the clutch lever at a light, i know it disapears while riding.

p.s. thanks for the info posted above Cloud9.

Classic knock. Synch the Throttle Bodies and it goes away.

--Wag--

Along with the symptoms everyone is having, does the clunk have a slight rpm "pause" when it happens? when the clunk happens, it sounds like it misses or skips a beat.

That knock on the 06 LE's is not normal, and can be directly traced to the wrong crank shaft bearings. Apparently a run of 06 LE's were produced with the wrong size bearings that run incorrect gap tolerances, which is what is causing the low rpm noise and vibration. After 6 months of fighting with U.S. Suzuki, they have finally repaired my bike under warranty. I actually saw the bearings and 3 of them were already showing considerable wear while the others all looked fine. The bike runs great since being repaired.

Hi everyone. I'm not new to the forum but have had nothing to say until now I have an 06 blue/silver with the same knocking noise since about 400 miles now have 6200 on it and the knock is still there. embarrasment to ride and sit at light. People quit commiting on bike and only ask "what's that noise". After it warms to running temp the noise starts when at idle. Have been fighting with Suzuki since 400 miles. Today they called and had me to return the bike so they can run an oil pressure check and if it is not to spec they will have to pull the engine. Just dropped it off a few minutes ago and the mechanic said that the factory specialist believes it may be the bearings so tirbandit's post (number 52) may be the only one thats correct according to Suzuki. Will have to wait and see what they find will let you know.

Just received a call from the dealer and the oil is to spec but noise and shudder comes back when they decel. Factory rep told them to tear it down and replace bearings and mentioned to them a problem with tolerances so I wont have my bike for awhile but they were instructed to fix the problem (by the factory) so hopefully my noise will be gone when I get it back. I will let everyone know as soon as I get it back if it has resolved the problem.

I'm bringing this back to life. I just bought an 07 with 10000 miles and kept hearing this knock at idle after it hits opperating temps and was wondering what it could be; my search brought me here. What is the cure or is it something I have to live with?

Sync the throttle bodies and just live with it. They're known to be noisy. If yours makes lots of noise with the clutch in I'd be a little more concerned, though. Mine got better after the throttle body sync, and also goes away with the clutch pulled in.

Will do, thanks.

Does anyone get this knock during startup? I do, thought it was kickbacks, put in an idler gear limiter but the knock/clunk´s still there, to hear it in idle when cold isn´t a problem to me but when starting up, horror!

even though i quoted that, this is for the original poster.
i have a "cranberry" ... same issue.. but its a random thud here and there, and an occasional knock, and sputter until about the same rpm you said..

no problem with bladder infections though.

... one thing that helps is to add more oil, and make sure you're running on GOOD gas, preferably at 89 octane.. it seriously helps.. 87 runs like crap, 93 runs like crap, 89 seems to be about perfect, and i really do FEEL the extra horses at 89 (though that SHOULDN'T make sense). The less ethanol the better too. ethanol wasn't as widely used in Japan where these bikes are made, when these bikes were brand new.

Cheveron gas really screws my bike up compared to citgo (but citgo has horrible gas). exxon seems to be pretty much the best in my bike. but... truth is, around here, ALL gas has about 10% ethanol, so that cant be avoided. but something about exxon gas makes my bike run better with less hiccups, knocks, and random crap.

keep in mind though i'm in texas, and gas changes literally from city to city. what works for me may not work for you, gotta experiment.

dont know if i missed it in someones prior post, but has anyone checked their idle to make sure it's at 1100-1200. screw sometimes backs off
