Things not looking so good with Da Bugs bike..... So, really debating big bore, new cams, the total package for everyday riding. Got to finish pulling the head off the bike then I'll have a better idea how soon this can happen. Have been planning a trip to North Carolina for over a year now. With the bike in pieces looks like I might be out the money for the condo/trip...

I guess this is just the way life goes. Johnny was full up til roughly June 20th, three days after my trip was to of started. But, I'm hoping to squeeze in after that for the whole set-up..... The Cheese man is all right in my book. Took the time to explain the in's/out's of what I'm about to do. Not many folks willing to do that nowadays. It'll be worth the ten hour drive one way...... Ks

Hoping things aren't as bad as you think for the bike, but glad you will be able to get with JC. In fact, I need to schedule some time for myself.

Just think of all teh hp and torque youll be making when its over. Did he say what it was gonna run ya?

was gonna mention you cntact j.c. but I knew you would.....

hope you can keep up with me in colorado!!! (oh, gonna feel slow up in those altitudes!)

Thanks man.... Although I was perfectly content with the old set-up!

Got no choice so might as well make er smoke.......

more hp and more streetable in my opinion.

ahh but hell still have to replace the head. then pay for the turbo. its cheaper to replace the head with the modded one

If you want a street bike go strictly for low to midrange grunt.

A nice 1397 with 12-1 or even 12.5-1 (upgrade battery on both to be extra safe) will impress you. The cams will give you more top end than real seat of the pants grunt feeling. I suggest you allow slight clean up work to the heads where no cutting of the guides is required and some mild cams (yosh stage 1). That coupled with a nice exhaust and proper mapping should leave you smiling in the neighborhood of maybe $3K.
piston kit $900
cams $750
exhaust $500-1200
labor $500-1000+++++.(depending on detail on headwork)

Ive got the 1397 kit,, from Kws motorsports in South carolina, ended up with 209 at the wheel, 13:1 . I havent ever had to worry about the battery upgrade. Never had a problem with anything for that matter. It cost me 4200 in upgrades and labor, Intake cam, exhaust cam and of course the bigbore kit. Im very happy with it.

Guys this is the kind of news I really need to hear now!

Since the weather is great and I don't have a bike all I can do is think about the future.

Yep I personally think you're playing with fragging your cases but hey. Its your bike and cash to waste.

that outa make the guy feel good... nuthin like the "Kind and Gentle" approach to advice givin'

this may sound stupid but adding a turbo is not good when you run 11:1 or 12:1 ect.. is it not best to have like 6:1 to 9:1 max to get max out of the turbo when it comes to compression? Now seeing that putting these kits on be it the 1397 or 1500, 1900 ect... are their piston kits to go with it that will bring it down to optimum compression for turbo usage and what is optimum compression and max kit you can use with a turbo and intercooler ect... and remain on pump gas baseing pump gas at min of 90 and max of 93 octanes...

Also what about balancing ect.. and also degreeing of cams and radical cams what play does that have on hp vs staying on pump gas as well as being agressive but not too overly agressive if you know were I am leading too...

Thanks...

My last bike was a serious overbore. Really nice power, VERY reliable. Some small starting issues, but a real nice bike.

If you go for it, remember there will be a lot of little "incedentals"

Possible piston pins, head and crank studs/bolts etc. Do it right the first time if you are going to do it, and have a lot of fun, cuz it WILL be strong

-how bout just install a spacer to bring compression down

-94 octane right outa the pump a my local Chevron

-balancing, are you talking about the crank ?

-the last three and a half lines...???

yer just supposed to glue the models together with the stuff man...
not sniff the shid...

what if you do not want to cheat and use a spacer?
as far as cams go was just wondering if they had an effect on putting it over the edge as far as pump gas goes if they were to radical??? Guess I am not relaying what I want to find out... Was just curious, can ask someone local when I am ready... Probably knows better their than here... Just thought someone here would know...

Also not all have 94 octane sunoco carries it but in DICKTONA you cannot find it at every station... so I based that on 90-93 since other states do not have over 90 octane just to be safe sided when traveling...
