learning the basics

It doesn't matter whether you are on one wheel or cornering, they both take time and practice to prefect. You won't learn either one very well nor very quickly without a tutor.

It's not mandatory to crash while learning either one but many people find a way to incorporate a getoff into the learning curve. Just attend any track day and watch the Rossi wannabe's kiss the pavement which is mostly caused by trying to do to much to quickly.

Wheelies should start out at six inches not three feet. As IG says, take small steps and don't move on until you have become comfortable with the current small step. Cornering is the same, small steps. To master either wheelies or cornering takes practice, lots and lots of practice. If you aren't willing to put in the time to practice you'll never master either one.

Never learn to stunt on anything
you care about how it might end up
looking or not be able to afford to repair .
