Legalizing marajuana in california?

Personally, i cant think of a single argument that you could make against marajuana that you couldnt also make against alcohol.

Alcohol is known to be addictive. <---Against Alcohol not MJ.

I wouldn't smoke it, but I think it should be legalized. People who smoke it are going to do so regardless of the laws on the books. Tax it like you do tobacco and use that money to fight a real war on drugs.

If it were legal I would grow it because I could.
That would make a great house plant....but I would stay away from the skunk...it would stink up the house.

Sorry, but the idea that marijuana isn't addictive is a myth. I know many people who have turned their backs on everything - family, career, homes - because they wouldn't/couldn't quit using it. I have a personal bias toward marijuana.

But...intellectually, I now it isn't any worse for people than alcohol. I really don't see the harm in using it socially the way people drink. I don't allow it in my house because it's currently illegal and I try to be pretty law-abiding.

I also think there are other "crimes" that should be legalized for public safety and tax reasons.

Fair enough. I should have said not nearly as addictive as alcohol. I suppose everything has the potential to be addictive.

firstly...i think it should be legal. i do however have to say that some of the claims are just wrong.

1. MJ is not addictive
2. MJ is not a gateway drug

both of these are false, i have known many people that are/were addicted....just because it is not addictive like crack, does not mean its not addicting. smoking wee does not mean you will seek a better high....but everybody i know that dabbles in coca, smike crack, etc......always started with MJ. there may be a lot of reason, including cost and the ease of aquiring it...

but in the end does it really matter, any money made from legalizing it....would be given to single moms, and illegal aliens....we would never see any of the benefits in lower taxes or better services.

It just seems odd to me....they go on and on about how bad marajuana is, etc...

"marajuana is terrible, it leads to violent acts - robbery, killing, stabbing, and its a gateway drug....people who use it move onto other things....it's undermining the very moral values of this countr.....oh, wait, we can tax this sh*t? Marajuana is a wonderful drug, everyone should go buy some!"
all ive seen it do to people is make them eat too much:laugh: :eatchicken:

I'm just trying to picture the governator with a giant blunt in his hand...

I agree, it should be legal. I've smoked it all of one time in my life, and that was over 20 years ago. I didn't even like it, but i would much rather be driving down the road amongst a bunch of stoners than a bunch of drunks.

I agree 100%, i would alot rather meet a stoner on the road than a drunk.

actually he did use to smoke it I hear in his lifting days. "For the appetite purposes:whistle:"

I dont smoke it but I've seen a article in a magazine or paper awhile back (Times?) that said to OD on pot you'd have to sit down and smoke roughly 90 joints in one sitting:laugh: However this theory has never been able to be successfully tested cause they forgot why their doing it and just go find a White Castle:rofl:

There is a federal law against it. I dont remember what it's called i think it was clinton's doing. So in a certain county or city in Colorado it is legal and if a city or state leo catches u its no big deal but if a federal leo catches you u r under arrest. So they should reverse that fed law and then leave it up to the states

It stinks to high heaven for one......... makes people act and look stupid.
Sorry, we have enough problems, don't need any more loser dope heads.
We have enough people sitting around sucking the life out of the working class.
We will have to have more government programs to get dopers off dope, and we get to pay for that.
MJ for medical use is a total different story. We already have it.
Very small percentage use it for medical reasons.
Some swimmer claimed it was good.....for something.....
Losing millions of dollars...

no you wouldn't, trust me. No difference. They will kill you just as dead.

SO lets bring back prohibition and ban alcohol too. After all, it can make people do stuff that kills you!

For the record, ive seen people who claim to be addicted to a lot of things....sex, television, alcohol, chocolate, etc...

Should we ban everything based on the fact that it may be addictive?

The clinical studies that I have read have proved that MJ is only mentally addictive, not physically addictive like alcohol. If it were legal, I would smoke it. I don't drink, and after smoking a doobie, there is no hangover!!
MJ is not NEARLY as dangerous on the roads as alcohol!
