Let us know what have you done for weight reduction on Gen 3

I used to think that way too, but even though I'm big I want my bike to be at its best fighting weight. If I lose by a nose I can take a dump and drop 5 more pounds

I get that lol. I’m surrounded by modded and built S1Ks so until there’s a Gen3 turbo I just enjoy cruising in the slow lane and watching the fast boys do their thing. Once the turbos are out I’ll pry put me and my bike on a bit of a diet lol

How did u go about removing the passenger pegs. Are they bolts or need to be cut?
There are bolts that you can remove.

But have in mind that the exhaust brackets and the passenger pegs are 1 piece.

If you have the standard exhaust you will need to buy after market exhaust brackets or cut the passenger pegs of the oem part.

Mine weighed 515 lbs with a half tank of fuel. My local drag strip has a car scale you can use. I’m guessing it will weigh under 500 lbs next year.

@Slimjesus you have to remove the tail section to remove the passenger pegs. DME sells an exhaust hanger you can buy to replace the right side one.

Also I highly recommend a 3/8 impact. There have been several bolts that I couldn’t have removed without it. I believe the passenger pegs were on that list.

I bought this one:

@kim windsor nice work!! I’ve gained weight over the last two years and need to focus on eating healthier again.

Im wayting for the DME aluminum subframe for the Gen3

Get 3 cheap bathroom scales. Put the bike on the three scales with the tires on one each and the kickstand on the third. Add the weights.

I was like 509 with a full tank of fuel on my gen 1 1397. This bike? Meh. Doesn’t matter much.

Thank you very much i have to figure out how to weigh her

Put a scale on the grass beside the driveway. Step on it making sure it does not sink and remains even with the drive. Ride one wheel onto the scale, lightly holding the bike up and have someone record the weight. Turn the bike around and do the same with the other wheel. As long as that ground is level then adding these two measurements together will produce the same result as using multiple scales simultaneously.

If you know someone who lifts weights and has calibrated Olympic plates:

Put a plank like a 2x4 on the scale. Tare it. Put about 1/2 of the bike's weight in plates on the plank. Note how far off it is. That provides an adjustment to the measurements of the bike to make the finally tally perfectly accurate.

Reach out to @c10 here. He put a Gen 2 on a diet and had awesome results.

I think by accident he also became the largest independent Titanium fastener distributor in the U.S.

So he could probably sell you 12 lbs of fasteners to reduce your bike weight. He can probably calculate to the Gram your weight savings.

This guy Super Fast Matt demonstrates the 2x4 method that @Hayabusa Wannabe mentioned and explains how you can use this method to safely use a bathroom scale. I’m a visual learner and he shows this method in the first two minutes of the video. So no need to watch the whole thing if you doing want to.

He has a link to a $200 livestock scale and you could build two simple platforms out of wood. If I didn’t have access to a scale I’d consider doing that if I was looking for a project.

Instead I prefer to watch this guy do projects that I’ll never do. He’s pretty funny too.

He is going roundabout to not load a scale with the full 25% weight of the car. I instead used a board merely to create the raised surface area to put weight plates on where they otherwise would be over the readout, or scratch the scale.

I checked and some cheap scales have a maximum weight of 400 lb. One could thus safely use one scale and put 50% of the Hayabusa's weight on it.
