I’ve thought about Gen 2 swap stuff before. And if I had a little more time for motor out wrenching I might have tried it, but at this point if the motor comes out of the frame I’m going right to the rod/piston/ported head/boost cams I have planned for next year. My turbo kit is already in discussion/fab work started and I’m going to run low boost stock motor till next spring/summer then build the motor and turn it up. The people that would know that I have talked to say Gen 2 stuff works just fine in Gen 3, but at that point why swapnGen 2 stock cams into a Gen 3 when you can put cams that make actual power into them at which point it’s a cammed busa, not a gen 3 with gen 2 cams.I think you have shown the Gen3's potential more than anyone without opening the engine or boost.
I know you said you're going turbo; but what are the odds of you trying Gen2 cam(s) first?
I know the Gen3 throttle bodies are smaller too(3mm??), so still a restriction there.
I read several things on potential Gen3 cam swaps months ago, but have yet to hear anymore about it.
I think that's what alot of us want to know too; can a flash, stacks, pipe, And cams bring Gen2 top-end to the Gen3, Without a big loss elsewhere in the rpms?
And since you're one of our few resident high speed R&D Gen3 test guys here, well...
lol
Now the TB stuff is something I’ve gone back and forth with a few members on and I may send mine out to be ported before boost. My Maxx tune is just about dialed in, and I could put them on, let auto tune do it’s magic, and get quick results for how much faster/how much more fuel it needed without having to start from scratch. On the flip side of the TB arguement. 650ib is making like 275 wheel with his 1600 on stock TB. Evan from EJR is making gif knows how much with Jigsaw, and I’d imagine 280+‘with Biscuits 1441 on stock TBs so I can’t see it making a HIGE impact, but for a couple hundred bucks I’m starting to be open to the idea of trying
