little embarrassed...

D03 I'm here and reading and thinking?

Wtf?

He's most likely had his bike for a long time and you've had your bike around a week , your own words.
I think 'rider error' may have been a little harsh and think it more like 'rider unfamiliarity' with his own bike.
Throw a pro on a new to him bike and he won't be able to get the most out of it for a while. Sure you may have grabbed full throttle and been wot but maybe you didn't have the bike in the 'sweet spot' we all get to know and didn't get the best roll on out of it? Give it more time. If he did go one down then yes it may have added a few on the top if it's unrestricted but if not that mod was worthless. The stock gearing and you familiar with the bike I don't see why that old of an R1 should have gotten you.

And besides what's with everybody falling for this roll on bullsh!t? Real men race from a dead stop next to each other. Line em up and run them flat out for a couple miles, stop have a smoke and then ask him what took him so long :)

Sorry to say bro but there is almost a hundred lb difference between you and your buddy, don't know you so I won't say your fat, just big boned? Or a giant. Anyhow your weight and the 100+ difference between bikes depending on any mods you have done on your bike to lighten the load would certainly make the advantage tip more toward your buddy.

My suggestion is to uses the losses as fuel to get the weight down on both you and the bike, you'll feel better look better, run faster and all he will see is tail lights. :moon:

Case in point, raced a guy with my son on the back (Bad parent I know! But couldn't lose in front of my kid, as he was egging me on) he weighs about a buck forty and I'm 215-220 so my weight at that time is about your current weight plus
75-100 lbs less the weight loss done to my bike, exhaust ect.

He's getting his own bike in a few months so he will be the last guy to ride with me!

The roll on from 60 was terrible compared to when I'm riding alone, instead of the normal "oh my I've been shot out of a cannon this is unbelievable acceleration I can hardly hold on! This is so freaking awesome!". It was like wow, I'm passing him but this isn't normal, is something wrong with my bike? :banghead:

My bike is lightly modded Two bros exhaust, juice box pro couple of others, but the weight difference is a huge factor.
Loss of weight will cause sudden loss of friends on a Busa!

Did u at least tap the clutch to help get a little jump on the start or did u just twist the throttle?

I know that weight plays a big roll and i didnt expect to beat him by miles, me and him always **** around on the highway and have since we started riding! Ill get familiar with the busa and give it another go!

dude seriously ive played with a modded 03 r1 with my bike stock and hung with him with your mods you should have destroyed him. you sure you werent in 3rd? your bike should be a good 40+ more hp than him

Rider weight has a lot to do with it. R1 VS Busa weight well there ya have it! last time I checked 30lbs equals about .10 in the 1/8 mile. Gear it or lose some weight. Gearing it would be easier.

Weight and gearing is why the R1 beat you..... simply said as a few others have pointed out. Roll ons are tough against litre bikes.

Not just a little weight either. R1 motorcycle to a Gen II is at least 130lbs difference stock to stock.
Your 275lbs and he was 210lbs - 65lbs.

That's nearly 200lbs difference. And if you are 275lbs are you wide/broad shouldered? Cause that will definitely show in the aerodynamic department once you reach over 120mph.

Litre bikes have closer ratio transmissions so they rev quickly in every gear add that to aggressive sprockets and your in big trouble.

Your going to need a lot more HP on top of that gearing upgrade for any BMW or new ZX10R with a light rider on it.....

Weight takes away horsepower.. Roll on at 50 in 1st on a GENII?? Serious? If you can go WOT from a 50 MPH roll on in 1st without looping it you need to disconnect your TRE..

Switch Bikes with your buddy on his R1 and let us know the results.. I garuntee its a whole different race...

Weight here guys, weight! You lost to the weight difference.

Denis are you in Michigan? With the mods you listed and when you got the bike it sounds like the bike my buddy John just sold.
